Inclusion & Engagement

It has been an exciting few weeks in the Inclusion and Engagement space, with many opportunities for our students to participate in leadership forums and lunchtime activities, while our staff continue to build their knowledge and confidence in delivering the Respectful Relationships curriculum.
GRIP Leadership Conference
Last Wednesday, our Student Leaders attended the annual GRIP Leadership Conference.
The day was filled with interactive activities, group discussions, leadership games and plenty of fun. This year’s theme, Accept the Challenge, encouraged students to explore what effective leaders do at school, how they can demonstrate leadership every day, the challenges they may encounter, and strategies for overcoming them.
Our students represented Miners Rest Primary School exceptionally well. They confidently engaged with students from other schools and enthusiastically participated in a range of on-stage games and activities.
We are incredibly proud of the way our Student Leaders embraced the day and the valuable skills and insights they brought back to our school community.
Lunchtime Activities
Please see below our timetable of activities we have on offer each week.
At the beginning of the year, our Student Leaders surveyed students across the school to find out which activities they would most like to participate in during lunchtime.
Using this feedback, we have been able to offer the range of activities listed above. It has been wonderful to see students engaging in activities that reflect their interests and provide opportunities to connect, play and have fun with their peers.
Respectful Relationships Training
This Thursday, our Inclusion and Engagement School Improvement Team (SIT) will attend Respectful Relationships professional learning focused on Topics 7 and 8.
This important training will further strengthen our team’s knowledge and understanding of the Respectful Relationships curriculum and support the ongoing development of high-quality teaching and learning across all Respectful Relationships topics.
Flourish
At the end of Term 1, we welcomed Nhi to Miners Rest Primary School and into our Flourish program.
Flourish is our school-based initiative that has been developed to support students with evidence-based needs linked to healthy relationships, resilience and confidence development in Years 3-6.
Nhi is working with identified students in Flourish, while she undertakes a placement to complete a Masters of Social Work degree.
Sessions with students have commenced with great uptake and enthusiasm.
