Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people. May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

Minister's Announcement

On Thursday May 7, the Deputy Premier Minister for Education visited Miners Rest to announce an upgrade to the Miners Rest Primary School external netball and basketball court, which will include resurfacing and the installation of sports lighting. We look forward to the completion of this project.

Attitudes to School Survey

The Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS) is an annual Department of Education survey that captures students’ attitudes to and experiences at government schools.

All government schools must participate in AtoSS, providing the opportunity for students from Year 4 to Year 12 to complete the survey. The survey provides data that helps the department understand student perspectives of their school and to improve the schooling experience.

Data collected includes how students feel in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.

AtoSS is aligned with the department’s Framework for Improving Student Outcomes 2.0. Data from the survey are used to inform school improvement and planning to support student learning and wellbeing.

Special Person's Assembly

We warmly invite our school community to join us as we celebrate the special people in our lives on June 19 at 2:30 pm. The Junior School Council is leading the development of this important event, and we look forward to gathering with our valued school community for this very special afternoon. Pop it on the calendar!

Camps & Excursions

We farewell our happy Year 4 campers next Wednesday as they travel to Camp Wyuna to experience life by the sea. Our fingers are crossed for good weather.

Our Year 5/6 students and staff will be transported back in time next Thursday and Friday as they experience life in the 1850s on the Goldfields, including two days of schooling back in this era - a valuable and insightful experience.

Education Support Staff Week

This week we acknowledge our extremely valued and talented Education Support Staff (ESS) across our school, kindergarten and OSHC.

Our ever-expanding team of ESS support our students and staff to make our school the best place that it can be. Their tireless dedication to ensuring high quality learning experiences for all children is founded on the genuine investment and care they demonstrate every day. Today, and every day, we are grateful for our school and kindergarten administration team, our maintenance and gardening team, our technology specialists, our classroom education support staff, the OSHC staff and the kinder co-educators. Thank you for all that you are and all that you do!

Assembly

We hope to see you at assembly this Friday at 2:30 pm.

Enjoy the rest of the week,

Kylie Nissen.
