Principal's Report

Education Week Open Morning
On Friday 22nd May, we will be celebrating Education Week with an open morning for families.
Parents and carers are invited to visit classrooms between 9:10 am and 10:10 am to take part in a range of activities with their child/ren. This is a wonderful opportunity to see learning in action, spend time in the classroom and enjoy some of the activities students participate in at school.
We hope you can come along and experience the fun with us.
Adopt a Garden Bed
Thank you to the parents who have already volunteered to adopt a garden bed.
We have another completed project to celebrate, with the garden bed outside the Principal’s Office now finished. It looks fantastic and makes a real difference to this space.
There is still time to get involved. If your family is interested in adopting a garden bed, please contact Salina at the office.
Foundation Information Session
Our 2027 Foundation Information Night will be held on Tuesday 26 May at 6:00pm in the library.
This session is for families with children starting Foundation in 2027. We will share enrolment information, key school information, curriculum details and an overview of our transition program and start-of-year arrangements.
We look forward to welcoming families and supporting the beginning of their child’s school journey.
Winter Solstice
Winter Solstice will be held on Friday 19 June.
We are looking for volunteers to help with setup and support the event on the night. If you can assist, please contact David Oxworth (Mr O) at David.oxworth@education.vic.gov.au.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
Attendance Update
Regular attendance is very important and makes a significant difference to student learning. In Victoria, all children aged 6 to 17 are required to attend school every day unless an exemption has been granted, and parents and carers must provide an explanation for any absence.
At Macedon Primary School, we are aiming for our average number of absences per child to be under 16.5 days for the year. If a child is averaging more than 5 days absent per term, Sue, our Mental Health and Wellbeing teacher, will contact families to discuss how we can work together to support improved attendance. We also ask that any family holidays during school time are discussed with the school and approved in advance.
| Number of Absences | Average Number of Absences |
| 1142 | 5.05 |
| Number of Late arrivals | Average number of Late arrivals |
| 532 | 2.35 |
Let there be light!
If you've visited Middle Gully over the past 6 months, you would have seen the works happening to install solar panels and get power connected to our Eco Shed.
A huge thank you to the PFA for your help in making this happen.
Last week we were also excited to have Alive Electrical attend and install lighting in and outside of the shed. This will be a huge asset to our school and the upcoming Winter Solstice.
Thank you again to everyone involved!
Warm regards,
Andrew Bloomfield
Principal
