Principal's Message
Dear parents, students and families,
Trust you have had a good fortnight.
Well Drew Lane has been and gone and his visit was greatly enjoyed last Friday. With his business partner Andrew Chinn they produce much of the liturgical music that we use within the school. You will often hear these in our liturgies while Fr Martin is away or in our masses when he returns. Drew also wrote our school song that the students sing so joyfully.
Our 3/ 4 students attended the Melbourne Museum last Wednesday as part of their studies. I heard it was a very full day and wish to express my thanks to the staff and parents who supported this learning experience.
On Monday this week we had our School Closure Day and thank you you making alternate arrangements for your children. Our focus was on the staff learning more regarding the new MACS Protect protocols around student safety and the second part of the day was spent listening to Stewart de Silva, who is a psychologist, and addressed the staff on ADHD in children.
Tuesday was our Book Week Parade and celebration day and I have been informed that so many of our families and staff put so much effort into selecting costumes celebrating favourite book characters. Well done to you all. Thank you also to Mrs O'Toole for collating and displaying all the students artwork. Makes me feel proud each time I move through the school.
Looking ahead the next two weeks are absolutely jam-packed with events.
Tomorrow many of our students will have earned the right to represent our school at the District Athletics at Ballam Park. We wish them all the very best with their efforts.
Next Tuesday 1st September our Year 5 students have been invited to Monterey SC to join Year 5 students from neighbouring schools to take part in World Traditional Games. Previously our students have greatly enjoyed this opportunity and we look forward to it again.
On the 2nd September the students will be able to purchase something special from the Fathers Day Stall. Grateful thanks to the parents who have organised the stall and will be there to assist the students with their purchases. That evening, as we look forward to 2027, we are holding our 2027 Foundation Information evening. This will be the first official step for many of our incoming families now that their enrolment has been accepted.
On Thursday 3rd September Mr Sullivan will be taking out our Marine Ambassadors and we look forward to these students returning and sharing what they have learnt.
Friday 4th September is our Fathers Day Celebration and I thank staff for their preparation for this. We hope many dads and significant others can attend on the morning and join their children.
The following week some of Year 5/6 students will be Aldercourt PS on Monday 7th September representing the school in cricket and tennis, our Year 5/6 classes will visit the Melbourne Aquarium on Tuesday 8th September and Signora Morina has Italian Day all organised for Wednesday 9th September.

School Attendance and Unexplained Absence
Please contact the school if your child is going to be absent by leaving a message on
9786 4736 and press 1. Please give your child’s name and class with areason for their absence such as: unwell, appointment, holiday or family reasons. Alternatively an email can be sent to office@saseaford.catholic.edu.au with cc to the child’s teacher.
Both of these options are available 24 hours a day.
If you are running late, (after 9:00 am) please attend the office to sign your child into school.
If you are picking up your child early you will need to collect them and sign them out from the office.
As per our policy this will be our morning routine for absences:
Parents will be contacted as soon as practicable on the morning a student is absent via a text message.
If parent does not contact the school after receiving the text message, the school will contact the parent by phone. If the parent is unreachable the emergency contacts will be contacted by the school.
If there is still no response, and the school feels that the child is in danger, the police will be contacted.
Ongoing unexplained absences or lack of cooperation regarding student attendance will result in a formal conference being organized. Unresolved attendance issues will be referred to D.H.H.S.
This is a legal requirement.
