Whole School

Wellbeing Weekend

A reminder that the School has a Wellbeing Weekend this week, with students and staff having a long weekend on Friday 11 September. We hope all students, families and staff make use of this long weekend to rest, reconnect, revise learning and/or recharge in anticipation of the remainder of the year.

There will be no classes from Kindergarten to Year 12 on Friday 11 September, however, the Primary School are providing a Vacation Care Day and Friends’ Early Learning will provide care and learning, as is the case during term breaks.

The Wellbeing Weekend also coincides with National Child Protection Week (6 - 12 September), which has the theme; Every Conversation Matters >> Shifting Conversation To Action.

Echoes Yearbook

This year, the Echoes yearbook will incorporate a full year of activities and achievements, with distribution occurring in Term 1, 2027.

We're reviewing how many printed copies of Echoes families receive and exploring whether families would prefer to receive one copy per family rather than one copy for each student. As we also consider our environmental footprint, we are keen to hear your feedback.

Please complete the very brief (one question) form here.

Co-curricular Photos

Co-curricular photos will take place on Tuesday 15 September in Hodgkin Hall. The photographs will be included in the Echoes yearbook.

This year, we are introducing a slightly different approach to co-curricular photography, with professional photographs focused on selected groups, while other activities will be represented through in-action and other photography throughout the year. This approach will allow Echoes to continue capturing the breadth of co-curricular life at Friends’ while reducing disruption to students’ learning.

Withdrawals for 2027

We would like to remind all families that if your child is not returning to Friends’ in 2027 the procedure to withdraw a student is to provide one term’s notice in writing, via letter or email addressed to the Principal Esther Hill.

Therefore, notice is due by the final day of Term 3, 2026. If notification is received after this day, one term's fees in lieu of the notice period will be applied.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Enrolments Office on 6210 2286 or via enrol.office@friends.tas.edu.au to discuss.

Quaker Meetings for Worship

All members of The Friends’ School community are welcome to attend our Meeting for Worship any Sunday from 10.00am, closing about 11.00am, with morning tea available afterwards.

Children are always welcome and there is a Children’s Meeting held concurrently with the Meeting for Worship. They learn about Quaker values through a range of interesting and fun activities. Around 10.50am the children join the Meeting for Worship, settling into the gathered Meeting for the last 10 minutes, usually sitting with their parents.

If you have any enquiries about the Children’s meeting please email the Clerk, Margaret Bywater.

Thursday Morning Meeting for Worship

Members of The Friends' School community are welcome to attend a short Meeting for Worship held each Thursday morning during term time, starting at 7.40am. Just come quietly in when you can and join us until 8.20am in the Hobart Quaker Meeting House, which is located just below the Middle School Office on Boa Vista Road.

Community Yoga – Returning in Term 4

Please note that Community Yoga will pause over the winter period and will return in Term 4. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the mat later in the year.
