Good Afternoon Parents Students, Staff and Friends of Derinya,

What a fantastic day we are having celebrating Book Week. The students look truly stunning and thanks to the incredible effort put in by families. Following assembly, it was heart-warming to see our classes buddied up sharing their favourite stories.

Parent Opinion Survey

At Derinya we highly value the feedback of our families. The department administer three important surveys each year to include the Attitudes to School Survey for years 4-6 students, the Staff Opinion Survey and the Parent Opinion Survey. At the moment we have 30% of our families having engaged in the survey. It would be helpful to have a broader range of responses that will influence the areas of priority as we continue to progress through 2024 and start to plan for next year. If you have a moment please login and complete the survey.

Sporting Success

A huge congratulations to our Year 6 Boys AFL football team who were victorious at yesterday’s competition, bringing home the flag as State Champions. Well done to Leo H, who was nominated as best on ground in the grand final. The team won by 8 points after winning three earlier games to qualify for the grand final. The team played with grit and determination and showed impeccable sportsmanship throughout the day. Many thanks to Mr Wylie and Daniel Millman for coaching and supporting the team throughout the competition along with our parent supporters.

The boys netball team are currently at the regional competition and have snuck in to the semi finals. We are eagerly awaiting their next outcome.

Parent Teacher Interviews

A reminder that parent teacher interviews are to be held next Wednesday afternoon in to the evening. This is our termly opportunity to share feedback with you around your child’s progress both academically and socially and emotionally. Please ensure you book a time with your child’s teacher via Xuno. For those families who have regular Student Support Group meetings, you are not required to make a booking.

Market Day

We look forward to our Year 6 Market Day next Tuesday. The students have been working hard on their promotional skits and creating their products as part of their financial literacy unit. Please consider sending some cash along with your child next week (preferably coins and small notes). Having a chat to your child about moderation would be appreciated. Teachers will also be monitoring this.
