Junior School

It’s wonderful to have everyone back for Term 3! We hope the winter break brought you moments of rest, joy, and connection—whether you stayed close to home, explored further afield, or travelled overseas. A special welcome to the new students and families joining the Oxley community this term. We pray you quickly feel at home and enjoy all that our vibrant school family has to offer.

Respect continues to be a cornerstone of life in our Junior School. Across the College, our Student Code of Conduct outlines the rights and responsibilities of all students as members of our community, with respect being a key pillar. In Junior School, we have our Student Code of Respect, which identifies six important areas everyone is expected to respect.

  1. Respect for God & the Christian faith and traditions
  2. Respect for Authority
  3. Respect for Myself
  4. Respect for Others
  5. Respect for Property & Environment
  6. Respect for Teaching & Learning

This shared language and set of expectations help guide how we interact with each other, approach our learning, and care for our environment.

Alice in Wonderland JR.

Across Prep to Year 6, the excitement is building for our Junior Musical, Alice in Wonderland JR. Under the creative direction of Mr Jeffrey Clarke, the main cast is busily learning lines and rehearsing, while all students are preparing their performance items. The Performing Arts room and classrooms are alive with the sound of catchy tunes drifting through the air! Be sure to save the dates—Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 September—and invite your family and friends to what promises to be a captivating and memorable show. Ticket details will be available soon.

100 Days of Prep

A big congratulations to our Prep students, who recently celebrated 100 Days of School on Friday, 1 August.  We are so proud of our youngest learners for their enthusiasm and eagerness, and we thank our dedicated Prep teachers and Learning Support Assistants for creating such a special celebration.

Leadership Chapel

On Thursday 7 August, we had the pleasure of recognising our new Home Group Captains and Enviro Captains for Semester 2 at Chapel. Each student received their badge and certificate as they stepped into these leadership roles. We also extend our thanks to those who served in Semester 1 for their dedication and positive contribution to our school.

Family Maths Afternoon

Last week, our Junior School was abuzz with excitement during our Family Maths Afternoon. Classrooms and shared spaces came alive with the sound of laughter, collaboration, and problem-solving as parents and children worked together on a variety of engaging maths challenges. It was wonderful to watch families exploring mathematical thinking in a fun, hands-on way—rolling dice, solving puzzles, building strategies, and celebrating successes together. Events like these not only make learning enjoyable but also strengthen the valuable partnership between home and school. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs McDonald for her outstanding organisation and preparation of the afternoon, and to our dedicated teachers for their encouragement, creativity, and support in making the event such a success. It was a true celebration of learning and community spirit.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Our Parent-Teacher Interviewsare next week on Thursday 21 August (4.00pm–8.30pm) and Friday 22 August (10.00am–4.00pm).

This is a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate achievements, and set meaningful goals for Semester 2.

Please note that Friday 22 August is a student-free day to allow teachers to meet with families.

As we move through the term, let us be reminded that education at Oxley is more than the pursuit of academic success—it is about shaping hearts and minds in Christ. We desire to see every student grow not only in knowledge but also in wisdom, character, and a love for the Lord. The Apostle Paul encourages us in Colossians 3:23–24

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

This verse reminds us that our daily efforts, whether in the classroom, the playground, or at home, are an opportunity to honour God through our attitude, actions, and respect for others. May we, as a community, walk alongside one another in grace and truth, building each other up, and modelling Christ’s love in all we do.
