Sports Update – Boys Division Football & Junior Hooptime Basketball

It’s been a big start to the term in school sport with standout performances across three major competitions!

Solway had 4 students students qualify for the State Cross Country Championships, which is an outstanding achievement. Jensen Mc (Year 6 – 12/13 years Boys), Jaxon S (Year 6 – 11 years boys), Grace H (Year 4 9/10 years girls) and Lucie S (Year 3 – 9/10 years girls). These runners tackled a challenging course at Yarra Glen Racecourse against the best in Victoria and showed incredible resilience and endurance. Congratulations to all competitors for reaching this level – your dedication and perseverance are inspiring! In a huge result Jaxon finished 2nd in his age group and has progressed to represent Team Vic at the National Titles on the Gold Coast in September. Good Luck Jaxon we wish you well!

We also had our Senior 5/6 Boys Football team put on a fantastic display of teamwork and determination, taking on some tough opponents with courage and skill at the Boroondara Division AFL competition. Although we only managed 1 draw from our 4 matches, the boys represented our school with pride, showing great sportsmanship and competitive spirit throughout the day.

Finally, our Junior Hooptime Basketball teams hit the court with energy and enthusiasm. All teams demonstrated excellent teamwork, with some thrilling games and impressive skills on display.  A big congratulations to all players for their effort, which culminated in Solway taking out both Mixed and Girls All-Star and Future Stars competitions. These teams will now progress to the next stage of the Hooptime Tournament at a later stage in the year. A special thank you to our coaches and parent helpers for their support. Well done to all involved – we’re proud of you!
