School Leaders
We are so incredibly lucky to have such great student leaders at our school. Why don't we get to know them a little better? We sat down for a chat with Naiya, one of our school captains, and Zatheinme, one of our school vice-captains.
What are you most excited about with being a school captain?
Naiya: I get excited when I get to talk at the school assemblies, and I like meeting and introducing the schools when they come for interschool sports.
Zatheinme: I like being able to make announcements, and making my parents proud.
What do you think makes a good school leader?
Naiya: You need a lot of positivity, and a loud voice to speak up when you feel like something is wrong. You need to be a good communicator. If you're negative no one would want to really follow in your steps.
Zatheinme: Teamwork and being collaborative is really important. We should also be respectful to teachers and set a good example.
What do you like most about being at Albanvale PS?
Naiya: It's fun! Even though you're learning, it doesn't stress you out. I like going out to play with my friends. I like the balance.
Zatheinme: The thing I like about our school is we actually do fun activites. I really enjoy interschool sports. I think the school really help with our learning as well - we know what's expected of us and the teachers help us achieve it.
Naiya: I also really like the Athletics Carnival.
Zatheinme: I'm also really excited about Big Day Out at the end of Grade 6. And Kidpreneur in Grade 5 was really good. It was really good to raise money for Food Bank since they help us and we were able to support them.
What are your favourite things to do outside of school?
Naiya: I like to play sports and going for bike rides with my family. I like to play music: the guitar and drums.
Zatheinme: I really love hanging out with my friends. I also like playing badminton and volleyball. I like riding my friend's scooter. I like listening to music as well, like Frank Ocean, Tyler the Creator and Wave to Earth.
Naiya: I like listening to all types of music. ACDC, Sia, Imagine Dragons, One Republic...I also really like to read - any chapter books or graphic novels.
What are your favourite TV shows?
Naiya: I like The Unfortunate Events series, and really like WWE.
Zatheinme: I really like K dramas, especially watching them with my sister. I also like J and C Dramas. I like the romance and action in them.
Ok, favourite colours?
Naiya: Emerald, shiny green
Zatheinme: Pastel yellow
Right, to round us out, if you could travel anywhere in the world right now where would you go?
Naiya: I want to go to Japan but I've been there, but one place I really want to go to is London.
Zatheinme: I don't know. My sister always wants to go to China and I just always pretend to agree with her. Maybe Japan, or Korea? I'd like to go to Sydney - one of my friends went there and their experience sounded really fun.
