Achieving Excellence Together

Dear Families,
Our students, in particular our Grade 3 and Grade 5s, have shown their determination and excellence this week, leaping straight into NAPLAN and Achievement Week (starting today) after their long weekend. We were fortunate to dodge the issues many schools across the nation had with accessing the writing assessment on Wednesday, and it was pleasing to see how well all the students applied themselves to the task.
Albanvale students have completed 3 of the 4 NAPLAN assessments (the last to be held next week), and this has primed them well for our Achievement Week. I know our students have made so many strides forward in their learning in the first seven weeks of the year. Their teachers really look forward to being able to demonstrate each students growth not only to the students, but to their families, at the upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences.
Parent Teacher Conferences and ILPs
Speaking of Parent Teacher Conferences, you may have noticed on Compass they are now open for booking. Parent Teacher conferences are scheduled for the last week of term on Tuesday 31 March from 3:30pm to 6:00pm, and Wednesday 1 April from 2:40pm to 6pm. Thank you to all of those who have already booked. I'd encourage everyone to make your booking as soon as possible to get your preferred time. You can find instructions on how to do this in this newsletter. Students' Individual Learning Plans will become available to families shortly before the meetings in preparation for the parent conferences.
Last Day of Term 1 - Wednesday April 1
You will have hopefully noticed the Parent Teacher Conferences on Wednesday 1 April are starting earlier that usual. This is because Wednesday 1 April is our last day of Term 1 for students. This means the students will be finishing school at 2:30pm. Thursday 2 April is a Curriculum Day, meaning staff will be at school undertaking professional development.
School Photos
There's been a lot of talk of end of term, but obviously we still have a lot going on at school before then. On Wednesday 25 March we have school photos. All school photos need to be ordered through the Compass App (you can find instructions in the newsletter).
This is a great time to remind everyone the importance of wearing our full school uniform everyday. As a school, we take pride in our connection as a community and one of the ways we do this is through our school uniform. We appreciate the effort made by students and families to ensure we are showing that respect for our school.
Our full uniform policy can be found on our website. The Uniform Group (formally PSW) stocks uniform items with the Albanvale Primary School logo. Please also be aware that jeans, cargo pants, hoodies or leggings are not permitted and only tights are accepted under dresses. Your continued support is much appreciated.
I promise I'm not wishing the year away but the information next year's enrolments is starting to come out. The Grade 6s will be receiving information early Term 2, but you will see in our newsletters information from various secondary schools regarding open days.
Our 2026 Preps have settled in so well, and we're really looking forward to getting our next group of Preps prepared for their schooling journey. Pre-enrolments officially open Monday 20 April, but if you wish to register your interest you can do so on our website. If you know of any people who are looking for an amazing school for their soon-to-be-Prep children, send them out way. We are happy to arrange tours at a time that suits them to show them the advantages of an education at Albanvale Primary School. If you enrolled in our Little Learners Academy we will be in touch very shortly to let you know about our Prep Readiness Program plans.
Achieve Excellence, Together.
