Climbing new heights
A Port Melbourne Primary School family, the Bentley's, have achieved something amazing! They took on the challenge of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and raising $50,000 for the Miracle Babies Foundation.
After days of trekking, Year 5 student Elka reached the summit, becoming (we believe) one of the youngest Australians to climb the mountain. She was supported by her dad, Rohan, and sister, Anika (a former PMPS student), as part of a group of nine climbers. Together, they not only reached the peak but also smashed their fundraising goal of $50,000!
During their adventure, the Bentley's also made a difference in the local community. They visited Amani Kids – Tanzania, a children’s orphanage near the base of the mountain, and donated PMPS basketballs to bring joy to the kids there.
Thank you to Rohan and the girls for coordinating this with our school and bringing joy to these young girls and boys.
