This Week At OOPS
Day at the Zoo!
Our Prep students had a fantastic time on their Zoo excursion last week! They enjoyed exploring the Zoo, seeing lots of amazing animals and making the most of this wonderful learning experience. We were also very lucky with the weather, which made for a lovely day out.
A big thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who joined us for the day. Your time and support helped make the excursion such a success, and we really appreciate it!
Book Parade
What a wonderful Book Parade we had on Monday! Our students embraced the spirit of reading with an amazing array of creative and colourful costumes, bringing many of their favourite books and characters to life. Our staff also got into the spirit of Book Week with some great costumes!
Friendship Club Fun!
Our Year 4 Friendship Club continues to be a wonderful way for students to connect, create and have fun together at lunchtime on a Monday!
Each Monday, our Year 4 students help lead activities in the Wellbeing Room, providing a welcoming space where students can meet new people, spend time with friends and enjoy a shared activity. This week, students had lots of fun getting creative with foil art, with plenty of colourful creations taking shape!
A big thank you to our Year 4 students Lewis, Indi and Cindy for showing such fantastic leadership, kindness and inclusion and helping make our lunchtimes a place where everyone can feel connected and welcome.
STEM Creativity!
Our Prep students have been exploring things that move in STEM! They designed and constructed their own paper plate marble mazes, thinking carefully about how to create paths that would guide their marble from start to finish. A fun, hands-on challenge combining creativity, design and problem-solving! Students also had lots of fun solving each other’s mazes and seeing how their designs worked.
Sunshine to Say Goodbye to Winter
What a beautiful way to farewell winter! The sun was shining across Old Orchard this week (mostly!), giving everyone a welcome taste of spring and plenty of opportunities to get outside.
Our school grounds have been busy, from structured Wellbeing Wagon activities and games on the oval, to sandpit and playground play, exploring our outdoor spaces and simply enjoying the sunshine with friends.
It has been fantastic to see students connecting, being active and making the most of our different play spaces during break times. After plenty of chilly winter days, the warmer weather has certainly brought an extra buzz to the yard!
Spring is here, and we’re looking forward to many more sunny days ahead!
