Another Successful Book Week 2026!
Our annual Book Week celebration began on Monday 24th August, with students beginning to get excited for the week's activities. Students who came into the library to visit were able to explore this year’s CBCA shortlisted authors and learn about the theme of a ‘Symphony of Stories.’
It was fantastic to see so many students and staff dress up on Tuesday, where Truganina College had their very first parade to share with their peers. There were many characters including Harry Potter, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Ella from the Ella Diaries, Superheroes and many more! A big thank you to families who came along to support the students and get them ready for a fun-filled day of reading activities.
The annual classroom display was in full swing, with many students behind the creativity and sharing their interpretation of what a ‘Symphony of Sounds’ means. Students across the college handmade items for their classroom display and were proud to share the stories behind making it happen. Thank you to the teachers for giving the students an opportunity to let their imagination and creativity run wild and inspire the next generation of readers!
Book Week Classroom Display Winners!
Congratulations to the following classes who won the Grand Prize of books (F-2) and the board game ‘Code Names’ to enjoy after their hard work.
From Foundation to Year 2: Congratulations to 1C! Ms Prasad and her students did an amazing job recreating their very own Spotify Playlist of stories!
From Year 3-4: Congratulations to 4C! A fantastic effort from Mr Bruce and his students who created a musical experience!
From Year 5-6: Congratulations to 6E! Ms G and her class created an elaborate Wizard of Oz inspired theme which transformed their classroom with lots of student input in creating the decorations!
From Year 7-9: Congratulations to 8A! Ms Gyan-Seraj and her students aligned the ‘Symphony of Stories’ theme to diversity and it was great to see their creativity shine!
On the final day of Book Week, Year 6’s had the opportunity to have Michael Wagner visit them and share his process of book writing. He captivated them with a reading of his yet to be released story, Annie’s Lantern. Students were quick to understand the moral of the story and how Michael made one of the ugliest fish in the ocean (his words!), the anglerfish, to one of the cutest with the talent of his illustrator, Wayne Bryant. Year 6 students left inspired and were grateful for the experience.
