Sport and Physical Education News

Dear parents and carers,

It has been a busy couple of weeks in the world of sport at St Cecilia's

DISTRICT SWIMMING

Our district swimming team represented the school exceptionally well in trying conditions at the Glen Iris District swimming competition on Tuesday February 24.

The weather went from very hot, to oppressively humid to looming thunderstorms that actually caused a delay in proceedings due to a distant lightning strike.

Despite all of this, the team did an outstanding job, with all team members finishing their races incredibly well. This year saw our biggest squad yet and we will be looking to build on our result this year, when squad training resumes at the end of term 4.

Congratulations to Tilly Reed who has progressed through the divisional trials and has now made it through to the regional finals at the end of March in the 50m Butterfly.

A big thank you to all the parents who came along on the day and brought students along to the early morning training sessions. Thank you also for all the work that Hollie French, Teresa Galgani and Liz Reed put into helping to organise and prepare the students.

RUNNING CLUB OFF TO A FLYER

Running Club has gotten off to a flying start with over 70 students attending the first two sessions. If your child is in years 3 to 6, they are more than welcome to come along and give it a go at any stage. We really focus on improving individual health and fitness, while having lots of fun at the same time.

Thank you to Mrs Galgani and Mr Balcombe for helping to make the start to the year at Running Club such a positive one.
