Congratulations to the School Captains and Vice Captains for 2025

This week the University Campus finalised the student leaders for 2025 and we are proud to announce the recent appointment of school Vice Captains and the Student Representative Committee (SRC). The College School Captains are Year 12 students Hannah, Mackenzie, Declan and Sidney who were elected during Headstart at the end of last year. Adding to the team are Year 11 students Arabella and Blake who were appointed Vice Captains in the last week. A competitive field of Year 11 students put themselves forward for this role and it highlighted the calibre of future leaders within the student cohort.

The SRC has met a number of times already and will be staging their first event for students this coming Tuesday where they will hold a free BBQ, an Easter egg hunt, and also seek coin donations to go to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Parent Teacher Conversations

All parents and carers are invited to book an appointment with relevant teachers through Compass for the upcoming parent teacher conversations to be held on the afternoon of Thursday 3rd April between 3:30pm and 7:00pm or Friday 4th April between 10:00am and 1:00pm. The two options are designed to meet the availability of parents as much as possible. These conversations are an important part of the support for students by discussing together their progress, areas for improvement and also to clarify any queries. Building communication and relationships between school and home can be a pivotal factor in students feeling supported and assisting them to progress.

Staffing Update

Unfortunately, the University Campus has not been immune to the teacher shortage facing most schools at the moment and we are working hard to secure additional staff to cover classes where there has been extended teacher absences. We are glad to say some of the staff who have been absent for medical reasons are now back on deck and we look forward to having a full contingent of staff in the near future.

College Athletics

It was great to see the level of participation in the recent College Athletics held at Joe Carmody Athletics Track. The weather was fantastic and added to the positive spirit and encouragement on display throughout the day. There is a report on the day included in the College News section of this newsletter.

Work Ethic - one of our College pillars

At the senior campus when we refer to work ethic, we are reminding students that we expect each student to give their best effort both in and out of class toward their learning. This involves focusing on the learning, completing tasks to the best of their ability, listening, questioning, persevering, cooperating, and having a positive attitude. We know that there are some days we don’t feel as good as others however we still need to bring the best effort we can each day. This is an approach that will build valuable habits for life beyond school and serve them well in the future.
