Principal's Report

Tim Furphy, Principal

Week 4 here we are. The past fortnight has seen our athletics day, 4/5/6 Cobaw basketball and an unfortunately postponed Science Circus incursion (date TBD). Tomorrow looks to be a fun day with the Bendigo Writers Festival and district athletics.

The 4/5/6s achieved great success at basketball last week, all those recess/lunch times spent training as a team certainly paid off. Not only did we hear about their skills, the most pleasing part was hearing of the incredible sportsmanship, encouragement and teamwork from our school.

Athletics has come and gone with plenty of fun had. Despite some early rain threatening to derail the day, it cleared to be a chilly but enjoyable day. Thanks to the parents that volunteered, and a huge well done to everyone for their participation and keeness to get involved. There were some great feats of jumping, throwing, running and many novelty races with constant smiles on peoples faces. While Xander and I didn't win the wheelbarrow race, his determination (and others as well!) to finish was incredible to see.

BOOK WEEK

We are having our Book Week dress up day this coming Tuesday (19th August) which is always a lot of fun. Parents please join us as we parade on the court in the morning, giving our students a chance to show off their costumes.

ASSEMBLY

We want to keep sharing the great things happening around our school. Assembly is a great chance for you to come and hear about these things, celebrate the kids achievements and have a bit of a chat to other families. Our next assembly will be next Friday on the 22nd of August. ALL FAMILIES are welcome and encouraged to come along.

VTLM 2.0

Victorian schools are updating their teaching practices to best align with the lastest evidence about how students learn. We will continue to dig into this as staff and monitor implementation to best support our students at NPS.
