Principal's News

Dear Families,

Our FIRE Carrier Leaders spent the day at Avila on Tuesday with other leaders from neighbouring schools to share ideas and learn more about how to "ignite reconciliation through education". Enormous thanks to Mrs Bredin and Claudia for taking the children to the day's activities and leading them so beautifully.

Our foundation students had a wonderful day at Chesterfield Farm today and I am sure they will share some photos with us in the next edition of our newsletter.

Our First Eucharist Commitment Mass will take place on Saturday 8th August at 5.00 p.m. and all children receiving their First Eucharist later this year are asked to attend, with their family for this important commitment to their faith journey.

Year 1/2 Good Shepherd Night

On Tuesday 11th August at 6.00 p.m. all families with a child in year one or two are invited to come along to the St Mark's hall, to be part of our "Good Shepherd" evening. During the evening the teachers will share strategies and activities that they use when teaching the children Religious Education  and invite families to take part in some fun learning tasks together with their children. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

CONGRATULATIONS:

Congratulations to Whitney (Grade 6), Savannah  (Grade 6) and Azaria  (Grade 4), who recently travelled to Brisbane to compete at the ATOD Dance Nationals with Broadbent Dance Academy representing Team Victoria.

All three girls danced amazingly and represented both their dance academy and St Mark's with dedication, commitment and outstanding sportsmanship.

 Azaria and Savannah competed in Hip Hop, while Whitney competed in Contemporary, where she achieved an outstanding 4th place nationally.

Competing at a national level is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly proud of all three students. Congratulations on your hard work and success!

State Basketball Selections

Congratulations to Zoe in Year 5 who was selected to play in the Victorian State Basketball Team. Zoe was selected through her Sabres representative team pathways and will play games against other states, over four days, in the upcoming school holidays. We wish her well.

Maths Games Day:

On Friday 14th August, 12 children from years 5 and 6, who are currently taking part in the St Mark's Maths extension program, will travel to a nearby local school to take part in a fun Maths Games Day Competiton with teams of children from many local primary schools. It is a wonderful opportunity for our children to challenge their skills in a co-opertive team based approach to solving problems using Mathematical skills and logic.

SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY - 25th August 2026:

We have secured Tracey Ezard as our presenter for our term three professional learning day with our staff. Tracey works all over the world with organisations to help grow and develop their professional learning culture and build on collaborative practices to enhance the work of the organisation. Tracey will work with us on Tuesday 25th of August and hence we will have a school closure day that day. Team Kids will run a full day program for families who need care for their children on 25th August.

CHILD SAFETY:

Just a reminder to please not leave your children unattended at the school gates prior to 8.30 a.m. Staff are not required to be onsite until 8.30 a.m. so it is not safe practice to leave children prior to this time. Thank-you for ensuring the safety of your children by following our school expectations.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

We wish all the children in year six who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday 15th August all the very best in this next important step in their faith journey. I look forward to celebrating this special occasion with you all.
