A Busy Fortnight at Inglewood

It feels like every fortnight begins the same way with the words “what a busy fortnight”. True to Inglewood style, the past two weeks have been absolutely jam packed with learning, activities and special events.

NAPLAN

Today our Year 3 and Year 5 students completed their final NAPLAN test. I would like to congratulate all of our students for the way they approached the assessments this year. Despite a number of technical issues and unexpected setbacks across the testing period, our students showed great persistence and did their very best.

It is important to remember that NAPLAN results are only a snapshot of your child’s learning at a particular point in time. They do not reflect everything your child knows, their growth throughout the year, or the many other strengths they bring to school each day. Our teachers use a wide range of assessments to understand and support student learning, and we continue to focus on growth and progress for every child.

Cooking Program

Mrs George did a tremendous job running her first cooking session. The food was amazing and it was so exciting to see our fresh produce being used by the students. The cooking program has been a much loved part of our school for many years and after 12 years of running this program it is wonderful to see it continue in such capable hands. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the results were delicious.

Family Cooking

We also held our first Family Cooking session and what a fantastic event it was. We had 24 people attend and together we cooked the most delicious fried rice. It was lovely to see families laughing, learning new skills and sharing food together.

At the end of the session families were also gifted a fresh hamper of ingredients to take home, which was a wonderful surprise. I think the photos say it all. It was a very special afternoon for our school community.

Years 3 to 6 Camp

Our Years 3 to 6 students have arrived safely at camp and what a beautiful setting they have. The children settled in well and have already enjoyed a wonderful first day of activities. We are hoping the weather stays kind to us for the remainder of the camp.

Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates and photos as the camp continues.

I would personally like to thank all of the staff who attended camp. Without staff willing to give up their time and be away from their own families, camps like this simply would not be possible. I would also like to thank our families for trusting us with your children. We know it is not always easy, particularly when this may be their first experience staying away from home.

OSHC Update

From 23 March, families will begin paying for OSHC sessions. As we shared previously, we are expecting our CCS approval very soon. Once this is finalised, families will only need to pay the gap between the CCS subsidy and the session fee.

I am incredibly excited and proud of the effort and work that has gone into establishing our own OSHC program at Inglewood. A huge thank you must go to Sara Looby, our Program Manager, who has worked tirelessly to get the program up and running.

We also have an exciting school holiday program planned. Some days are already nearing capacity, so I encourage families to consider booking in early. It is a wonderful opportunity to give yourself a little break or provide your child with a fun and engaging day during the holidays.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent Teacher Interviews are an important opportunity for families and teachers to connect and discuss each child’s learning and progress.

If you have not already done so, I encourage all families to book a Parent Teacher Interview through uEducateUs. These meetings provide a valuable chance to celebrate your child’s achievements, discuss their progress and talk about ways we can continue to support their learning together.

If you require any assistance with booking your interview, please contact the school and we will be happy to help.

Looking Ahead

With only two weeks remaining in Term One, we are looking forward to finishing the term strongly. There are still plenty of learning opportunities and activities ahead as we head toward the end of what has been a very positive and productive term for our students.
