Sustainability Update

Our school garden is absolutely flourishing and thriving thanks to the care and commitment of our wonderful Gardening Club and our dedicated Environment Leaders. Their hard work watering, weeding and nurturing the plants is really paying off!

We were excited to see our little pumpkin plants beginning to flower and grow, and we were even lucky enough to spot some delicious tomatoes straight from the garden. There’s nothing better than tasting food that we have grown ourselves! 🍅

We have also discovered some very hungry caterpillars munching away on our kale. The students were thrilled to spot them, although the kale plants may disagree as they are now covered in tiny holes and nibbles! It’s a great reminder that our garden is supporting wildlife as well as growing food. 🐛

We are also launching a new sustainability initiative called Nude Foods. This encourages students to bring lunches with as little packaging as possible. Instead of plastic wrap, foil or disposable packaging, we encourage the use of reusable containers and lunch boxes.

To help reduce and manage our school waste, any rubbish and unfinished food will now be placed back into students’ lunch boxes and taken home. This helps families see how much waste is being created and encourages us all to make more sustainable choices.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to care for the environment and reduce waste at school.
