Shrinika shines at national level table tennis
Nossal High School is proud to congratulate student Shrinika on her outstanding recent performances on the national table tennis circuit.
Shrinika competed at the Table Tennis Victoria (TTV) Open on Sunday 12 April, held at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium in Traralgon. Her campaign was nothing short of impressive as she defeated the number two seed in the under 19 category, a player considered a future Olympic prospect and continued to record wins against strong opponents before falling to the eventual tournament winner in the quarterfinals. In the under 17 categories, Shrinika claimed a memorable win against last year's national champion, narrowly finishing just outside the medals.
She then returned to Traralgon on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 April for the Table Tennis Australia (TTA) National Circuit event, where she achieved a significant milestone: a bronze medal in the under 21 Women's category. This was her first national medal of the year, a remarkable result, particularly given that Shrinika is eligible to compete in much younger age classifications.
These recent results add to an already impressive year for Shrinika. She has claimed under 15 doubles medals at Victorian tournaments and has previously represented Victoria at national level, earning a gold medal at the National Championships.
Shrinika will next compete at the TTA National Tour event in Goulburn in May. We wish her all the best as she continues to represent herself, her family, and Nossal High School with such distinction.
Well done, Shrinika and we are incredibly proud of you!

Interschool Senior Softball Competition
On Monday 27 April the Year 11 girls participated in the interschool senior softball competition held in Kingston Heath. The girls team played against multiple school such as McKinnon Secondary College and Koo Wee Rup Secondary College, demonstrating teamwork and bonding through encouraging each other and having fun on the field.
Some of the key highlights of the games include Shishira's infamous double play, where she caught the softball, getting the batter out, then threw it to second base getting the base runner out. Another highlight was Amna playing catcher, who caught ball with her bare hand on a foul ball, getting the batter out, overall, the girls had so much fun learning and playing softball, trying their best in every game and cheering for Nossal!

Baseball / Softball
On Tuesday 28 April, the intermediate boys and girls' baseball/softball team went to compete in the southern zone regional tournament.
Having lost in the division stage but being pushed through as the 'Lucky Losers', the team was eager to make a comeback. The first game against Alkira came right down to the wire, with Nossal HS winning by 2 runs on a time penalty.
Gaining some confidence, Nossal blew Carrum Downs HS out of the water, scoring an incredible 5 runs every innings of the game. Nossal won 15-5. Nossal then versed Melbourne High, where they won again 7-4.
They then played in the finals, against Sandringham, where unfortunately they lost. However, the boys had a lot of fun and are proud of their achievement. As for the girls, they were playing softball adjacent to the boys. Unfortunately, they were not able to qualify through to the finals, but still played with great determination and courage, and helped cheer on the boys.
Overall, a productive day for Nossal High.
