Secondary AEA’s and Leaders Of Learning: Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education Wellbeing Retreat 

All Secondary schools AEA’s and Leaders of Learning: Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education 7- 12 gathered in Tamworth for Aboriginal Youth Mental Health Training and Wellbeing day delivered by Baydon Widdicombe from BPW Consultancy. The team learned about the importance of Mental Health Wellbeing and support for young people and participated in a Cultural Art, Story & Self session with Gomeroi artist Jodie Herden to connect through mindful art techniques, creative processes and cultural connection to create powerful and personal stories of Wellbeing, Belonging and Healing. Wrapping up the two day gathering, participants engaged with an intensive Cultural Plans Data Update workshop  with ACS SME: Data System - Briony Martin in readiness for Term 2.

Holy Trinity School - Myall Creek Memorial site visit

Holy Trinity School students travelled to Myall Creek as part of their Year 10 History and Year 10 / 9 Aboriginal Studies class lesson. 

Under the guidance and support of ACS SME: Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander K-12 - Karen Tighe & Jolene Faint and school staff, walked the path of past injustice, through thoughtful and fearless conversations that challenged them to look at history as an act of remembrance and reconciliation to Myall Creek Memorial Rock to reflect on this important chapter in our nation history.
