Principal's Report

Dear Rockhampton North Special School Community,

Hello everyone,

As we enter the final term of the year, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the wonderful contribution of our temporary Business Manager, Melitta Green. Melitta has been a steady, supportive presence, seamlessly stepping into her role and managing everything from HR to the school budget. Her ability to build relationships quickly and integrate into our admin team has been truly remarkable. We will miss her expertise and the calm energy she brought to our school, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Melitta for all she has done. We wish her all the best for the future!

After a long and careful selection process, we are delighted to announce that Stacey Hooper has been appointed as our new Business Manager, starting next year. We are confident Stacey will be an excellent fit for our school, and we look forward to welcoming her to the team.

Additionally, please join us in welcoming four new staff members to our school: Richelle, Jesse, Merle and Irene. Richelle has joined us in a permanent role as an EA, while Jesse (EA), Merle (EA) and Irene (teacher) are with us in temporary roles until the end of the year. Thank you all for your commitment to our school and for upholding our values of CARE, COURAGE, and COOPERATION.

With the warmer weather, I also want to remind everyone about the importance of being SunSmart and staying hydrated. Please ensure students wear hats and sunscreen and encourage them to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

This week is Mental Health Week, and we took the opportunity to share a lovely morning tea with staff yesterday. It’s important to reflect on the value of supporting one another. Despite the rise of social media, research shows we are becoming more disconnected, which can lead to feelings of loneliness. Let’s all take the time to check in with each other and build meaningful connections within our school community.

Warm regards,

Dehlia Dawson
