Science Week
The Preps celebrated Science Week by making their very own lemon volcanoes!
Using lemons, washing-up detergent, bicarbonate of soda and food colouring, the Preps transformed ordinary lemons into bubbling, colourful volcanoes! They explored how the lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda react when mixed together, creating a fun chemical reaction that resulted in some exciting volcanic eruptions. The students drew pictures of their observations and reflected on what happened during their experiment. They had so much fun being scientists for the day!
Year 1 Experience
The Year One Experience Day will take place on Thursday 10 September. Year One students will take part in a range of fun activities both during the school day and after school.
Some highlights of the Year One Experience Day will include:
- Participating in creative, hands-on activities that promote teamwork and problem-solving.
- A Billy Cart Incursion run by Supreme Incursions. Students will work collaboratively to create a vehicle using a range of materials and strengthen their teamwork and problem-solving skills by following a set of instructions.
- Participating in a cinema-like experience by watching a movie with their peers.
Senior Boroondara Leadership Day
On Monday 7 September, the Seniors will travel to Hawthorn Arts Centre to participate in the Boroondara Youth Leadership Day. There will be many other schools in attendance.
The focus of the day will be 'Leadership', in particular:
- What leaderships means to them?
- What trait makes a good leader?
What leadership skills they would like to further develop?
The schools will be separated into different rooms and work together to answer questions and solve problems. It will be a great day meeting students from other schools and developing leadership skills needed for the future.
