WHAM!

What's Happening At Milgate!

Acknowledgement of Country

Milgate Primary School would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land of the Wurundjeri People, and we would like to pay our respects to the elders both past and present. Staff, students and the school community understand that we thrive, learn and live on Wurundjeri Country and we stand with all cultures united as one.

Milgate’s Vision

To provide a dynamic, inclusive learning environment that challenges students to become inquirers, thinkers and caring young people who are able to interact in the global society with respect and intercultural understanding

Welcome back to Term 4 to all students, parents and staff. We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable holiday either in Melbourne or beyond. The students are looking rested and refreshed and ready for interesting and challenging learning during their last term of the year.

From this term onwards, our school newsletter will be published fortnightly instead of weekly. This change will allow us to share more meaningful updates, highlights, and upcoming events in each edition while reducing the number of emails sent to families.

We appreciate your continued engagement and encourage you to keep an eye out for our next issue in two weeks’ time!

YEAR 4 EXCURSION - CURRAWONG BUSH PARK

On Tuesday 14th October, the Year 4s embarked on an intrepid adventure to Currawong Bush Park, a beautiful reserve, just a stones throw away from Milgate P.S. The students are currently learning about ecosystems and the environment in their Unit of Inquiry, ‘How The World Works’. The students themselves suggested that an engaging experience to help them learn about this topic, could be visiting a local habitat to explore its environment. The students certainly learnt a lot from the diverse habitats, ecosystems, vegetation and wildlife that they found in the park. They were even lucky enough to spot an echidna, a skink, kangaroos, wallabies and many different birds. A huge thank you to our parent helpers who came along, making the day not only possible, but also a great success!

THANK YOU FOR THE SOCKS

Last term the Junior School Council collected and sent socks to a small community school in Deogarh, Rajasthan, India. This week the socks were distributed to students at the school, and we received the following message from the school:

“The socks arrived in Deogarh today. I think we have enough socks for the entire village. They are of such good quality, thank you so much. The children are fortunate to have Milgate Primary School as a beneficiary.”

YEAR 5 AND 6 CAMPS

Year 5 and 6 Camp at Waratah Beach was an unforgettable adventure for our students, filled with teamwork, resilience, and outdoor exploration. Set in South Gippsland, overlooking Wilson’s Prom, students had the chance to connect with nature, tackle physical challenges, and strengthen friendships. From navigating high ropes courses to surfing, each activity was designed to build confidence and foster a sense of community. Thank you to our dedicated staff and parent volunteers for making this experience possible. It was truly a week of growth, learning, and memories that will last a lifetime!
