School Sport Victoria Representative
Year 6 student Amelia Bergman and her SSV (School Sport Victoria) softball team headed to Adelaide for a week-long national tournament. The Bergman family and the Altona College community are extremely proud of Amelia, and also for being the only member of the team from the western suburbs! Amelia's family has shared, "To be selected in the team she had to attend two tryout days and was selected as part of the 15-player squad from over 45 students who trialled. Amelia was picked as the number two catcher only just missing out on the number one spot, making in the top 6 girls selected"
We are delighted to share in celebrating this achievement as Amelia goes to represent the state.
Year 3 Urban Camp 2023
Our Year 3 students had an overnight excursion to Urban Camp, it was a fantastic way to build on the personal, social, and emotional skills that they have been working on this year. Day 1 was Melbourne Zoo and fun at Bounce, and Day 2 was a trip to the Queen Victoria market for a foodies tour and ice cream. Then, after all that, our year 3's went on to visit the seaside aquarium before heading home!!
Big Summer Read
The BIG Summer Read is a statewide Public Libraries Victoria campaign that aims to ensure ALL Victorian children have access to the resources they need to maintain their literacy skills over the summer holidays. Children are asked to log the books they read in December and January in a simple app called Beanstack.
For every 10 books they log, their name goes into a prize draw. There are three prize packs to be won. At the end of January, Hobsons Bay Libraries will announce the winners.
Chill Out Day
Friday 17th November our primary students enjoyed a day full of fun activities including Chatterbox Origami, Watercolour painting with music, Cooking, Lego, Guided self-portraits, Ball Games, Board Games, and Paint and Sip.
Christmas Soirée
CALL OUT FOR CHRISTMAS RAFFLE DONATIONS
Our P-6 Christmas Soiree preparations are underway, and we are reaching out to families and local Altona businesses to kindly request your support in the form of donations for prizes for our end-of-year Christmas raffle. Your contribution will not only add excitement to the event but also help raise funds for our school. This year, all funds raised from the raffle will go directly toward providing sports equipment to enhance the physical education experiences of our students. Your support will have a direct and positive impact on the well-being and physical fitness of our students.
We would be grateful to receive any form of donations that you may be able to provide, whether they are products, gift certificates, services, or other items. No donation is too small, and we will gratefully accept any contributions you are willing to provide.
Please send any Christmas raffle donations directly to the office or to Ms Jodie Broughton (4A).
We sincerely thank you for considering our request and for your potential support. Your generosity will make a significant difference in ensuring the success of our Altona College Christmas Soiree Concert and in providing new sports equipment to our students. Thank you very much for your support!
