Outstanding Year 12 Artists Selected for West Australian Pulse Exhibition 2025

The Arts Department are delighted to announce that three of our Year 12 Visual Arts students have been selected into the annual West Australian Pulse exhibition at the Art Gallery of WA. Congratulations go to Hina Saegusa, Jodie Rankin and Ashleigh Smith!

This exhibition celebrates WA’s talented young artists in this yearly showcase, gauging the pulse of young people who will influence, empower and shape the world we live in. The selected works provide a window into young people’s private, social and artistic concerns. It is an inspiring, rewarding and insightful look at the world through the minds of our most talented young artists. The exhibition will open in May 2025.

Well done Hina, Jodie and Ashleigh – we can’t wait to see your fabulous works hanging in the Art Gallery of WA.

Celebrating Creative Talent Within ASC Community

We are proud to congratulate Year 11 Visual Arts ATAR student, Raphie Benjamin, who won the Youth Award with her mixed media textile-based artwork Faith Worn in the 48th annual Melville Art Awards held last Friday evening.

Raphie writes “once belonging to my mother, the jacket is heavy with memories of her travels in Italy 20 years ago. Antique lace, old Bible pages, velvet, beads and intricate crucifixes, symbolise her spiritual conviction. Faith Worn pays homage to my mother's faith, but also my interpretation of the Church - both beautiful, but sometimes ugly”.

Visual Arts teacher at the College, Mrs Jaelle Pedroli, is also a finalist in the awards, with her painting, Sunrise over the Rocks with Blue Flowers. Mrs Pedroli writes of her work, ‘I find myself arriving at the same place day after day, season after season. Looking, listening and just being. Every time something is revealed to me and within me’.

The Melville Arts Awards are open until Sunday 1 December. Exhibition opening hours are 10-4pm daily (closed Monday). evening at Wireless Hill Museum located in beautiful Yagan Mia Wireless Hill Park, Telefunken Drive, Ardross.
