Blue Class Newsletter 💙

The last two weeks have been full of learning, creativity, and teamwork in Blue Class!

In English, students have been strengthening their spelling, comprehension, and writing skills. We’ve been focusing on crafting sizzling starts, expanding our vocabulary, and using powerful verbs and adjectives to make our stories come alive. Students have also been working on comprehension passages that encourage deeper thinking and discussion, and reading aloud to practise fluency and confidence.

In Science, our topic has been Forces and Motion. Students explored how pushes and pulls make things move and change direction. We’ve completed hands-on experiments, researched how forces are used in everyday life, and learned how scientists and engineers use these principles to design trains, rockets, and playground equipment.

In Mathematics, we have been working on mixed problem-solving combining addition, subtraction, multiplication, and fractions. Students are learning to show all their working and explain their reasoning clearly. Our daily maths challenges and games have kept everyone engaged and encouraged great teamwork and persistence.

In Art, we connected our learning from science by creating artworks that represent movement and energy. Each piece showed incredible creativity and understanding of how line and colour can express motion.

I want to give a huge shout-out to the entire class for their resilience, effort, and positive attitude. Every student has shown perseverance and pride in their learning, even when challenges arise. I am so proud of each and every one of you for the way you’ve supported one another and continued to grow together as a team.

🏠 Three Things to Do at Home with Your Child

Read together for 15 minutes each night — discuss the story and ask questions about characters and events.
Play a quick maths game — practise times tables, number facts, adding fractions or mental maths while cooking, driving, or shopping.
Explore science in action — look for examples of forces around the home (e.g. doors, bikes, swings) and talk about what makes things move.
