Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome to our Week 10 newsletter! This is the last week of Term 3! Can you believe it is almost Term 4? The year is going so fast! We have lots of exciting things happening this week, and we are looking forward to sharing them with you!
Year 1/2 Trip to the Zoo
Last week, the Year 1 and 2 students went to the zoo. Here are some of their thoughts about the excursion.
Jordan: What did you enjoy about the zoo? “I enjoyed seeing the tigers and lions. I also liked seeing all the different animals. The coolest animal I saw was the tiger.”
Sadie: What was the best part about the zoo? “The best part about the zoo was seeing the lions and koalas. My favourite animal there was definitely the lion.
5/6 STEM Expo
Some of our Year 6 students attended the STEM Expo with Mrs Patterson. The theme was based on “making a difference” in our community. Congratulations to Asher, Eva, Jasper, and Matthew for such a fabulous day. A special congratulations to Asher and Eva for coming 1st overall! Here is what they had to say about their day.
Asher/Eva
What was your favourite part?
I liked the challenge where we had to make the tallest tower with staples, cards and tape.
How was your day?
The day was a fun experience and I had a lot of fun.
What was 'Forget No More' about?
Forget No More was about a hearing aid about helping the elderly how to remember how, why and what to do. It reminds the old how to do everyday things and we came up with the idea in STEM, by brainstorming and a lot of different ideas
Celebration of Learning
This week, we had our Celebration of Learning where parents came to school to see the work they have been doing this term. The children were so proud of their achievements. Well done to all!
Gateways
This week, some students went to Gateways. Here is what they had to say:
Inara: “The presenters taught us about the French Revolution, and the coordinators were very helpful in an activity we were doing.”
Lucas: “It was really fun, and I enjoyed the learning and the games we played.
Sports Code Day
We had so much fun on Sports Code Day! Thank you, everyone, for wearing your team colours. It was really fun to take part in all the activities.
Thank you to Miss Richards and all the Sports Leaders for helping us set up our Sports Code Day!
St Brigid's Fun Fair
Our St Brigid’s Fun Fair was a huge success today! The classes sold things like zooper doopers, toys, bracelets and much more. We had lots of fun, and it was great to see everyone enjoying the activities. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped support our school!
Aussie of the Month
At Friday’s assembly, we announced our Aussie of the Month. Congratulations to Jacob from 5/6F, who was recognised for being a kind and caring person. Well done, Jacob!
Light the Way Awards
We also presented two Light the Way Awards this week. Congratulations to Grace from 3/4 and Emma from Foundation. Both students were recognised for the positive ways they help others and contribute to our school community. Well done, Grace and Emma

Navigating Social Media: A Guide for Families
Many primary school students show an interest in online platforms, apps, and chat groups. We want to share a friendly reminder and some helpful tips to keep our children safe in the digital world.
Age Limits Matter
Most popular social media apps (such as TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and Roblox chat) require users to be at least 13 years old. These rules exist to protect children's privacy and safety online. If your child is younger than 13, they are technically below the required age for these platforms.
Tips for Parents and Carers:
Talk openly: Have regular, calm conversations with your child about what they do online and who they talk to.
Keep devices in sight: Set up computers, tablets, and phones in family areas (like the lounge or kitchen) rather than in bedrooms, especially at night.
Check privacy settings: Review app settings together to make sure personal information, photos, and locations are hidden from strangers.
Know the signs: Watch for changes in your child’s mood or behavior after using a device, which can sometimes signal online bullying or stress.
Review what they learn: Our students actively participate in the Inform & Empower Cyber Safety Program at school. Ask your child what they have been learning in these sessions to help reinforce healthy digital choices at home.

If you have concerns about your child’s online safety or notice changes in their digital wellbeing, you can find support through the following channels:
National Resources: For excellent guides on popular apps and games, or to report serious cyberbullying, visit the Australian eSafety Commissioner website.
Working together as a school and community helps our children learn how to be smart, kind, and safe digital citizens. Please make sure you are being vigilant with social media over the holidays as the children will have more time on their devises.
Visiting Dentist
We will be having the Mobile Dentist visiting St Brigid's from 12th to 16th of October.
All students are welcome to attend:
- Services include general check-ups and preventivie care.
- No out of pocke cost - covered by Medicare CDBS
- Treatments include cleaning, sealants, fluroide, fillings and more.

🏅 Champions Corner
Congratulations to Archie who was awarded Swimmer of the Term at TLC Swim School! Archie impressed with his dedication and progress in the water.
His confidence, determination and positive attitude have helped him make wonderful achievements this term. We are very proud of you Archie!
School Closure Day
A reminder that TOMORROW - Friday, 18th September is a School Closure Day. Staff will be participating in a professional learning day on Positive Behavior, facilitated by MACS staff.

Our Art Show is fast approaching - Save the Date - Thursday 8th October. The Art Show this year will feature a range of artworks, including painting, collage, sculpture, papier mache and animation. So many exciting things to view and admire! Tickets ON SALE NOW via CDFpay Flexischools App - Adults $10.00 - children 12 and under - free.
This year, our class teachers and their students have created a class art piece that we will auction off in an online silent auction. The art pieces will be displayed at the Art Show with the silent auction being opened on the night of the Art Show at 6.00pm. The online auction will remain open for a week and will be closed on Thursday 15th at 2.00pm and the winning parents will be notified soon after the close of the auction.
