 Welcome

Wawa, Wominjika.

Here at Old Orchard Primary School, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we visit each day, the Wurrunguri and Woiwurrung people of the Kulin nation.  We acknowledge and respect the elders and leaders past and present and the elders and leaders of all of the cultures and nationalities that are part of the Old Orchard Primary School community.  We express our gratitude towards the orchards that were kept in place by the peoples on this land before us.  We thank the traditional owners for sharing this beautiful land that we all love, and for keeping the land, sky, waterways and animals all in great condition for thousands of years, not only for themselves but for all the generations to come.

Footy Day

We celebrate the AFL Finals with Footy Day and it’s always fantastic to see students dressed up in team colours, whether they are AFL or other sporting teams. Huge thanks to Fiona, Pip and Sheree who have organised today’s Footy Lunch Day, along with parent helpers Trish McGhie, Dani Trajkoska and Sarah Alligan. Best wishes to the four remaining teams in the AFL Finals.

Attendance Update

Finishing Term 3 Strong: Every Day Counts!

Another fantastic week of attendance at Old Orchard! Last week, our whole-school attendance was 94.26%, which means we have now achieved over 94% attendance every week this term. What a fantastic achievement and a great way to finish Term 3!

As we head into the school holidays, it’s a great time to recharge and enjoy a break from the usual routines. Towards the end of the holidays, a few simple steps can help make the return to school for Term 4 a little easier:

  • Gradually return to regular bedtimes and morning routines.
  • Have uniforms, school bags and lunch items ready before the first day.
  • Talk positively about returning to school and seeing friends and teachers again.
  • Allow some extra time in the mornings during the first week back.
  • Aim to arrive before the bell so students are settled and ready to head in at 8:50am and start their learning at 9:00am.

Thanks to our Old Orchard families for your continued support of regular attendance and punctuality throughout Term 3. Every day counts, and we look forward to seeing everyone back for a fantastic Term 4!

If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s attendance, please contact Adam at adam.todd@education.vic.gov.au.
