Principal Message
It has been a great, yet busy, start to Term 4 at the Kings Park Campus as we work towards the end of the school year and plan for 2027. Our 10 students are about to complete their studies for the academic year and commence preparations for their examinations, which will take place at the Delahey Campus. Our Year 7 to 9 students are looking forward to our End-of-Year activities to celebrate what has been a productive and rewarding year for them.
On Thursday 10th September we acknowledged RUOK? The day encourages us all to stay connected and to have conversations about mental health. Importantly, it’s about starting a meaningful conversation with someone you notice might be struggling with life. The national theme for 2026 is, “RU OK? Any Day.” We feel very lucky to work in a school where staying connected and asking RU OK? is already part of our everyday culture. Most students do feel very comfortable opening up and reaching out to staff and each other for help.

Like the Sydenham Campus we held our celebrations of the Premiers Reading Challenge for 2026 in our Campus Library. While the students enjoyed the pizza and soft drink on offer, they were most excited by the choice of four books they each had that were provided as part of the Challenge.

ABCN continues to support our students at Copperfield College with resources and opportunities to aspire and reach their potential. This term we participated in the Money Mastery Program, which aims for students to know their rights at work and how to manage their money, make confident decisions, and plan for a strong financial future. This included how to develop a realistic personal budget and implement effective savings strategies
Last week we had students return from our visit to Japan. Soula Dedes, Abby Malagoli and Alain Cazzetta attended on behalf of the College. It was a wonderful experience for all those involved, and many tears when the time came to return home; many lifelong friendships were made, and we look forward to hosting students in 2027.

Late last term we interviewed current Grade 6 students (Year 7, 2026) who applied for our 2027 Scholarship Program. We received a significant number of applications, which was pleasing. We are currently attending primary school of those who were successful to present them with their scholarships.
For example, we congratulated Tannique North, recipient of the Sporting Excellence Scholarship, and Nhu Dinh, recipient of the Academic Scholarship, both from Kings Park Primary School.

Last week our Year 9 students participated in a program, Frontline. This program is a full‑day, interactive program that builds safety awareness, teamwork, and community connection through hands‑on activities with police and emergency services. We had representative from Victoria Police, Metropolitan Fire Brigade and State Emergency Service (SES).

Luba Grigorovitch (MP for Koroit), Minister for Youth and Minister for Carers and Volunteers, met with student leaders from across campuses to hear directly about the challenges students face, discuss their priorities and ensure their voices are reflected in government decision-making.

It was a tremendous effort from our Year 7 and 8 girls at the Keilor Division Junior Girls Softball Competition. Our girls showed fantastic team spirit, outstanding communication and impressive softball skills throughout the day leading to plenty of positive plays with the bat and in the field, including an excellent double play in one of the innings.

We are currently offering tours for students and families considering Copperfield College for 2027. We had more than 20 students and families attend the Kings Park Campus this term.
We continue to speak with our students and staff about our 2026 Campus goals;
Our high expectations in relation to student learning and behaviour in the classroom and yard.
Student attendance is everyone's responsibility.
Building POSITIVE and RESPECTFUL relationships and connectedness within the school community.
It is pleasing to see the high number of genuine positive Compass posts, recognition of the many good things our students do. We thank teachers for taking the time to let students know that you notice them when they demonstrate the best versions of themselves.
