Secondary School

Welcome Back
Welcome back to our Secondary School families for Term Four. I hope all our families had the opportunity to spend some quality time together over the break and return feeling refreshed and recharged.
Year Ten Work Experience
In the final week of Term Three, our Year Ten students were off campus participating in work experience placements. The feedback from both students and local businesses has been overwhelmingly positive.
Our students represented themselves and their school exceptionally well and should be proud of their efforts. The Work Experience programme is an important part of our Careers curriculum, providing valuable opportunities for students to gain real-world experience and develop a deeper understanding of potential career pathways beyond school.
Spirit Week
This week, our Year Twelve students have been making the most of their final full week of school with a different themed dress-up day each day. It is an opportunity to celebrate together and enjoy some final moments of fun before graduation.
Wednesday's theme was to dress in their primary school uniform, Thursday's theme is to dress as their childhood dream job, and Friday's theme is to recreate a childhood photograph.
Year Twelve Gift
Our Year Twelve students have organised a gift to the school in recognition of their time at Great Southern Grammar. The gift symbolises their gratitude for the opportunities they have experienced over the years and for the many teachers and staff who have supported them to learn and grow.
This year's gift is a handcrafted table that will serve as a practical and lasting contribution for future graduating classes. The table was built by former Great Southern Grammar teacher and current grandparent of a graduating student, Mr Peter Colgate.
Mr Colgate also assisted in constructing the photo booth used at the Year Twelve Ball earlier this year. We are extremely grateful for the time, skill and generosity he has shown our students and school community.

Albany Change Makers' Summit
This week, a number of our Student Council representatives had the opportunity to attend the City of Albany's Change Makers' Summit. This initiative is one of several programs designed to encourage youth leadership and consultation within our community.
The workshop focused on developing leadership capabilities and empowering young people to create positive change within their schools and communities. A key message throughout the day was that leadership is accessible to everyone and that young people have the capacity to make a meaningful difference through effective communication, collaboration, resilience and action.
Key areas explored during the summit included:
- Leadership Starts with You
- Building Resilience and Wellbeing
- Communication and Relationships
- Teamwork and Collaboration
- Problem Solving and Critical Thinking
- Creating Positive Change
- Youth Voice and Agency
Athletics Carnival
Next week, we look forward to our Whole School Athletics Carnival, which will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday. Students will have the opportunity to strive for their personal best while contributing valuable points to their House.
Families are warmly invited to attend and support students throughout the carnival.
Please find the information booklet here.
