From the Principal

Welcome to Term Four!

A very warm welcome back to school. The campus has come alive with the return of students, families and staff. As I often say, the campus can often feel like a ghost town during holiday breaks. This reinforces that a school is not simply bricks and mortar. A school is a learning community of people with a singular focus on supporting and educating young people.

Over the break, the building, grounds, cleaning, finance and administrative teams have worked tirelessly to prepare for the return of staff and students, including forward works for the commencement of 2027.

Works

As you may have noticed, the refurbishment for the re-opening of Anchorage House is almost complete; the new Early Childhood Centre classroom is well on the way to being operational; the Tamungup Centre has had new air conditioning installed; the interior of the Annette Knight Centre has now been fully repainted; new gates around the Primary School building have been installed, and a new shed has been built to protect the school's generator.

Staffing Update

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Hannah Jetta as the new Youth Wellbeing and Indigenous Support Officer, commencing in November 2026. Hannah will work alongside Heads of House and the Secondary School pastoral team to deliver allied student support services.

Mrs Jenna Levingstone has been appointed the new Uniform Shop Manager, commencing in November 2026. Jenna is well known to the GSG community and will work alongside the newly formed Community Development Team.

In my next Anchor article, I will announce all new appointments across the school for 2027.

Celebrations

The festival of Year Twelve has commenced in earnest this week and will conclude Friday week with the Valedictory Chapel Service and Awards Assembly. The special Boarding Valedictory Dinner will take place Thursday week.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, the Whole School will participate in the newly imagined Athletics Carnival. I strongly encourage families to attend and take part in this community event, which seeks to unite students across all year groups.

GSG is back on the road with community sundowners in Esperance this Friday and Bremer Bay this Sunday. I look forward to connecting with current and prospective families.

Go well
