We hope that everyone was able to enjoy some quality time as a family during the break and that our students are recharged ready for a fabulous Term 4!

Fourth Term is always a very busy time for schools with end of year activities and lots of planning and organisation for the new year happening as well. We are well and truly back into it here at Banyule PS!

Holiday work updates

An empty school over the holiday break provided the opportunity to undertake a variety of projects around the school. We were able to paint our Block B classrooms and spruce up the outside of the building. While the paint paintbrushes were out, we gave the Mandarin portable a new lease on life too. It sure is amazing what a lick of paint can do!!

We were all able to give our front embankment play area some attention with new gravel, plants, sand and a good old fashioned tidy up...

We look forward to sharing more photos of our playground changing as our Colour Run fundraising happens!

School hats and uniform

As we head into Term 4, please remember that all students are required to wear their full school uniform, including a school hat with the Banyule Logo. With the warmer weather approaching, wearing a school hat when outdoors is an important part of keeping our students safe in the sun. Cool mornings and warm afternoons often lead to layers of clothes being removed and left at the place of removal. Please help us reunite lost property with their owners by ensuring uniforms are clearly labeled with your child's name.

There will be a second hand uniform sale on Tuesday 27th October for any families who need additional uniform items.

Community of Practice

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving teaching and learning, we are working alongside three other local schools as a Community of Practice, creating opportunities for our leadership teams to collaborate, reflect and learn together. These schools are Apollo Parkways, Glen Katherine and Greenhills Primary Schools.

Over the next few weeks, leadership teams from each school will take part in Learning Walks, visiting classrooms across the four schools to observe teaching practice in action. Our particular focus will be on the key elements of Explicit Teaching within the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0). These visits are not about comparing schools or individual teachers, but about developing a shared understanding of effective practice, identifying what is working well and considering what we can learn from each other.

Colour Run

WOW! What an amazing start to our Colour Run Fundraising. In under a week, 137 students have collectively raised $13 273.

As proudly announced at Monday’s assembly, we have now raised enough money to buy new giant chess pieces ($400) and two outdoor table tennis tables ($1200). We can also finish off our Gaga Pits with landscaping ($10 000) once they are installed. Our next chunk of fundraising money ($15 000) will go towards playground line markings.

Student sponsorships can be collected via:

We will be having a special ‘Colour Run’ themed assembly on Monday October 19 at 3pm to share our fundraising achievements and draw out spot prizes for some lucky fundraisers. This week, any student who has collected $30 worth of donations by 9am Monday, will go in the draw to win one of four Hoyts movie passes!!

The Colour Run will be held on Tuesday 10th November and more information about the day will be shared over the next few weeks.

Happy Fundraising!
