Principal's Message
From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 2, Week 7
Good morning, Parents/Carers,
Turn Up Awards
The "Turn Up" award was introduced last year to encourage our students to attend school every day. Each day your child attends their name will be entered into the draw to receive a paddle pop voucher. A voucher will be issued each week to each class. If your child attends 5 times in that week they have 5 entries. If they attend two days in that week they have 2 entries. Congratulations to our winners for Week 6:
K/1B - Jaxon S
2/3O - Ricky
4/5/6T - Thomas

Home Reading
Home reading is encouraged at Werris Creek Public School. Just 10 minutes per night can make a difference. To encourage our students to read at home, we offer some great incentives. See the image below with our incentive program. If you would like some tips on encouraging your child to read, please see their classroom teacher.

Attendance Matters
Congratulations to the 17 students who are part of our 100% Club. These students have attended school 100% of the time in Term 2.

We have 36 Students in total attending 90% or above. Keep up the good work as attendance matters.
If your child is to be absent from school for any reason, please ensure you contact the school office to advise or reply to the SMS message that is sent on the day of absence. It is important that we notify the department the reason your child is not attending school.
Cold & Flu Season/Illness
With the weather changing and coming into the cooler months, cold and flu symptoms and other contagious illnesses start to appear due to more time indoors. In the interest of keeping our school community well we ask if your child is displaying cold, flu or other symptoms of illness, please ensure they are kept home and monitored and return once symptoms have subsided. Symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea must be kept at home and can return to school 48 hours after the last episode. If you are unsure, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank You CWA Werris Creek Branch
We would like to thank the CWA Werris Creek Branch for their kind and generous donation to Werris Creek Public School. This donation will go towards funding the bus for our excursion to Port Stephens later in the year.

We wish our Chess Team all the best as they compete in the NSW Primary Schools Chess Competition in Gunnedah this Friday.
School Assembly
It was great to see so many Parents/Carers and community attend our first school assembly for Term 2 last Friday, 29th May. K/1B delighted us with a fantastic performance of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and Nursery Rhymes. Congratulations to our class award winners.
Parent/Carer Survey
Thank you to all who participated in the Parent/Carer Survey within the last two weeks. Your feedback helps us to know how we are doing and where we can assist in making our school the best it can be for our students and families.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
We will be holding Parent/Teacher Interviews from Week 9 to Week 11 this term. This is a great opportunity to meet with your child's teacher to discuss their progress throughout the first semester. Notes were sent home yesterday. If you have not received a note, please contact the school office. We ask that you indicate three preferences of dates and times that staff are available and we will endeavour to accommodate you. If you are unable to make any of the times indicated, please contact us to arrange another time with your child's teacher.
Kind regards
Kathy Nott
