Eucharist

The lyrics above are from the Australian hymn Come to the Table by John Burland. Sung at St Anne’s school Masses while the congregation receives communion, the way our students sing together never fails to give me goosebumps. The song’s “call and respond” lyrical style gives it a sense of reverence that befits that moment in the Mass, when we remember Jesus’ sacrifice by reliving the key moments from the Last Supper.

This week our Year 4 students commenced their journey towards the Table of the Lord by attending a Family Faith Night at St Anne’s Church. With their parents, they were asked to think of special celebrations in their own lives, and to find similarities to the celebration of the Eucharist - special greetings or farewells, symbols and gestures, even the food that is eaten. The students will continue this learning in their classrooms over the next few weeks, leading up to Eucharist Masses on Sunday 2nd and Sunday 9th August at 2:30pm.

We ask that you keep our Year 4 students in your prayers as they head towards the next milestone in their faith journey.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

  • Our amazing PFA have taken on the challenge of cooking sausages for the locals of Sunbury at Bunnings tomorrow. Come on down between 9am and 4pm to purchase a sausage and drink to support our school.
  • Last year we used funds raised to purchase indoor games for students on wet days. We are still deciding what funds from this year will go towards.

Art News - Year 6 Legacy Boards

  • Have you ever wondered about the colorfully creative boards that are on many of the fences around St Anne’s? Started in 2016 by our then Art teacher Trish Quinn, the Y6 Legacy Boards have become a St Anne’s tradition. These days, supported by Ms Sarah, students spend multiple terms planning, designing, drafting and finalising their masterpieces, ready to be displayed somewhere around the school.
  • And do you know the best part? It’s watching visiting former St Anne’s students proudly locating and telling the story behind their Legacy Board (and sometimes cringing at what they thought was cool back then!)
  • Below you can see some finished pieces and some that have yet to be started. A big shout out to Rob who measures and cuts all the wooden posts.

  • At last night’s SAC meeting, we welcomed three new members
    • Morgan O’Neill - Mum of Emily in Prep Blue
    • Mariya Brundell - Mum of Sofia in One Maroon
    • Kenny Lay - Dad of Nina in Two Blue
  • We look forward to their contributions to our school community.

Attendance

  • There are revised MACS Attendance guidelines and procedures coming in Term Three, which were shared with the SAC last night. Stay tuned for details and expectations, particularly regarding approved and unapproved extended absences, and our procedures for alerting families when attendance becomes unsatisfactory.

Cross Country

  • Congratulations to all of our students who proudly represented the school at the District Cross Country event held on Friday, May 1. We had a full team of 60 students and were lucky enough to be awarded the winners of the big schools division and receive the shield this year. Well done to every student for their outstanding effort, determination and sportsmanship throughout the event. We are very proud of the way they represented our school.

We would also like to congratulate the 11 students who progressed through to the Division Cross Country Championships and raced yesterday at Kilmore Race Track. This was a fantastic achievement by Rossi, Corban, Wyatt, Tommy, Ivy, Eva, Oscar, Cooper, Lucas, Kyrie-Dean and Millie.

Kyrie-Dean, Eva and Rossi  are  through to the next stage of regionals on the 17th of June!! Wishing them all the best at the next stage, a huge achievement!!

Thank you to Sarah Notaro, our helpful staff member on the day at Divisions!

Uniform Items - Coats and Jackets

  • Please ensure that all uniform items have names on them, in more than one place if possible. We are still finding a number of new items of uniform that don’t have a name on them at all.

Prep 2027 Offers

  • Prep offers went out on Wednesday for new families. Due to Sunbury’s growing population, all three Catholic schools in town received far more applications than they could take. We don’t see this issue diminishing in upcoming years. If you know new families who are considering St Anne’s for Prep 2028, please advise them that the best way to be at the top of the list is to be a baptised Catholic living in our catchment area.
