National Indigenous Tennis Carnival - Darwin
Asher spent the week at the National Indigenous Tennis Carnival in Darwin. Where he was selected to represent Victoria in the Future Stars section.
They came third in the Ash Barty competition with team Victoria taking out third overall. It was a great week of tennis experiencing culture, connection and competition with all states coming together for the tennis carnival.
Off the court, the Carnival’s Cultural Program was a highlight for many. Players took part in daily “Grounding Sessions” with Ian Goolagong, spear throwing (men), weaving (women), learning Larrakia language, Traditional Indigenous Games, hip hop dancing with Indigenous Outreach Projects, string making, hand printing, and enjoying a special performance from Barkaa.
What a great experience to be apart of looking forward to trying out again next year.
