Year 12 Valedictory

Guyra Central School bid farewell to the graduating Year 12 Class of 2024 on Friday 27 September 2024. The day began with a traditional ‘Year 12 Breakfast’ hosted by the Year 11 students. Following this, the ‘Class of 2024’ was honored and graduated during a memorable Valedictory Assembly. Students from Years 7 to 11 spoke on behalf of their respective year groups, highlighting a shared sentiment: the Year 12 cohort served as role models for their younger peers. Our younger students did an amazing job of farewelling our year 12 students and should be proud of themselves.

Year 12 advisor Miss Wendy Wilson took the assembly on a nostalgic journey, sharing her experiences as Year Advisor with the departing students.

Mr. Tim Lloyd, the Relieving Principal, personally addressed each student, highlighting the unique contributions they made to the school and sharing what he would miss about each of them.

'This is a hugely significant occasion and a crucial landmark in the lives of the young people we see here on stage and their families. But we don’t get to this point without a massive amount of work and commitment from lots of different people.

I’d like to start by acknowledging the fantastic efforts of the parents, carers and extended families of our year 12 students in raising these wonderful young people and helping them get to this point in their lives.

Thanks also to everyone who put in extra work to make today possible - Gwyn, Sal, Mel, Mrs Smith, Mr Kelly and the year 11 students for the awesome breakfast this morning, our new student leaders Annabelle and Treigh for MC’ing today, my tech team boys for running the sound and music and to Mrs Ryan for putting the assembly together.

I’d also like to acknowledge the wonderful staff at Guyra Central school - including the teachers, office and support staff and in particular the year 12 teachers who have put in the hard yards with these guys to get them through their HSC year.

Mrs Wendy Wilson deserves special mention at this time. Mrs Wilson has been Year Advisor for these guys from day one and has just been an amazing support and guide for these young people as they have matured and grown. Mrs Wilson has been incredible as a year advisor and just one of the best in the business in how well she has nurtured these guys.

And finally to year 12. You have been a wonderful year group. I have really felt with you guys that there has been a commitment to use your position to try to make the school a better place and for this we appreciate you. We will miss you all!
