Principal's Message
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our community for their continued support of Guyra Central School. We have had a great term with lots of learning opportunities for our students and staff.
We wish our outgoing Year 12 the best of luck for their upcoming HSC exams and as they start their new chapter of their lives. Congratulations to our Year 12 families and thank you again to our staff who have given so much to support these wonderful young people.
To our outgoing senior student leadership team, we say thank you and congratulations for the wonderful support that you have given to our student body. We welcome and congratulate our incoming senior student leadership team and look forward to working with you to ensure that our students feel that they have a voice in their school.
I have been asked by our Director, Mr Christopher Bice to work out of Glen Innes High School during Term 4, 2024. Thank you to Mr Tim Lloyd for accepting the position of relieving Principal in my absence and to Ms Annette Callister for her continued great work as our Deputy Principal Wellbeing. Mrs Elli Auld will step into the role of relieving Deputy Principal during term 4 2024 while Mr Lloyd is Relieving Principal.
I would like to say congratulations and say good luck to Mrs Sjaan Mitchell, who was successful in securing the relieving Assistant Principal position, for the next 18 months, at Ben Venue Public School in Armidale. Mrs Mitchell has dedicated her career in education to Guyra Central School and is looking forward to a new challenge during the eighteen months. Miss Shar Elder will step into Mrs Mitchell’s Assistant Principal position in a relieving capacity (.8) and Miss Emma Lindeman will continue to support in relieving Assistant Principal duties (.6). Thank you to Mrs Danni Peoples and Mrs Jenny Atkin for their continued great work as our substantive Primary leadership team.
Thanks also to the amazing Mrs Natasha Roberts for the great support that she has given us at the school, as relieving School Administrative Manager, while Melanie Urquhart-Faint has been on leave.
I would like to inform the community that our formal Kindergarten Transition Program will not commence in 2025 until Term 4. This is in line with strict legislative requirements. Our program will be in line with other partnership schools in the Guyra area. We understand that this may be inconvenient for some families, but we are not able to offer more that 50 hours/year of transition support for our incoming students. This 50-hour learning/induction program will occur in Term 4 2025. We will, however, provide opportunities prior to this for families and their children to engage with the school, less formally, with a chance to meet staff and look through the school and our resources/facilities.
Please have a great school break everyone and stay safe. I miss everyone already.
