Baby News!! 👶🍼

A huge congratulations to Tim and Bec on the safe arrival of their beautiful baby boy, Parker, last week on the 30th July. We are absolutely thrilled for them and wish them all the love, joy and precious moments that come with welcoming a new little one into the world. Congratulations from everyone at Marlborough Primary School!

Welcome Orlando to the Marlborough Community

We would like to formally welcome Orlando to our wonderful school as the newest member of our Education Support team, working in the Junior Unit. Orlando is already a familiar face around Marlborough, having completed much of his Education Support placement in the Junior Unit over the past few years. We are delighted to have Orlando joining our team and are confident that he will be a wonderful addition to Marlborough Primary School. I'm sure you will join us in giving him a very warm Marlborough welcome!

My name is Orlando Lopez, and I am pleased to have joined the school community as an Education Support staff member. I would like to thank the school for the warm welcome and the opportunity to be part of the team. I enjoy working with teachers to support students in building their confidence, independence, and love of learning. I value culturally respectful practices and the inclusion of diverse perspectives in the classroom, and I am interested in using creative and technological approaches to enhance student engagement.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, 3D printing, design, walking, exploring new places, and playing soccer.

I look forward to getting to know the school community and supporting students throughout the year.

Winter Sniffles 🤧🤒

As we move through the colder months, we are seeing the usual increase in coughs, colds and other winter illnesses across our school community. We kindly ask families to keep children at home if they are unwell or not well enough to fully participate in the school day. This not only supports your child's recovery but also helps reduce the spread of illness to other students, staff and families. If a student becomes unwell while at school or is presenting as too unwell to learn and participate, our staff will assess the situation and, where appropriate, contact parents or carers to arrange for them to be collected. Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a healthy and safe learning environment for everyone.

Late arrivals

If your child arrives at school after the morning bell (9:00 am), they must be accompanied by an adult to the school office to be signed in. This helps us ensure all students are safely accounted for and that our attendance records remain accurate.

The process is as follows:

• Visit the school office: Please walk with your child to the main administration building/office.
• Sign in using the Compass Kiosk: Complete the sign-in process on the kiosk located opposite the office.
• Provide a reason for the late arrival: This allows us to record your child's attendance correctly (for example, a medical appointment, traffic delays or another valid reason).

• Collect a late pass: Office staff will provide your child with a late pass to give to their classroom teacher before joining their class.

2027 Foundation Enrolments

Just a friendly reminder that Foundation enrolment applications for 2027 closed on Friday 31st July 2026. If you have submitted an application, your offer should now be available to view and accept through the application portal.

Master Plan

We are excited to share that Marlborough Primary School has now entered Asset Management Planning Stage 2 (AMP2). This is the next step in the planning process, where the ideas and priorities identified through consultation with our students, staff and community begin to take shape. During AMP2, we will work closely with the Victorian School Building Authority to develop a detailed vision and concept designs that will guide future improvements to our school, ensuring they support high-quality teaching, learning and student wellbeing for many years to come.

3-6 Camp

Our exciting Adventure Camp to Lady Northcote is fast approaching, and we can't wait for our students to enjoy this fantastic experience! A friendly reminder to please ensure that all camp payments, consent and medical forms are completed by the due date to assist with our planning and preparations. Student Tree Day

On Friday, our Year 5/6 students proudly participated in National Schools Tree Day, led by our wonderful Tanya, who guided the students through the planting of 12 new trees around our school grounds. Together, they planted an impressive variety of native trees, including Eucalyptus, Callistemon, Acacia, Banksia, Lemon-Scented Myrtle and Lilly Pilly. This hands-on experience gave students the opportunity to learn about the importance of caring for our environment while making a lasting contribution to our school. We look forward to watching these trees grow and flourish for many years to come.

Book Week📖

Story Time (F-2): 28th August

On Friday 28th August students are invited to come to school dressed up as their favourite book character or their Pyjamas for a fun, storytime day. Students from Foundation - Year 2 will engage in a fun day where they will listen to our Junior School Teachers and Leadership read our favourite stories and engage in a variety of activities. 

Symphony of Stories with Josh Pyke

On the 25th August at 10am, students across the school will be a part of an online seminar entitled ‘Symphony of Stories’ where students engage in a special workshop led by musician and author Josh Pyke to create a tailor made song together with students across the state. 

House Captains Reading Morning

The House Captains will work together to lead a ‘reading morning’ featuring a CBCA shortlisted book and activity they have planned! Students from F-6 will split into their houses from 10am to enjoy this special activity with their House Captains.

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! What better way to promote reading to our students than by supporting this important literary event! We invite your entire family to participate in the Book Fair by purchasing the latest children's books. 

The book fair will begin on Wednesday August 19th. Students will have the opportunity to view books with their class during the day and these will be available for purchase before and after school from Thursday 20th August until Tuesday 25th August. Each student will be given a flyer to take home that provides a preview of only a FEW of the many books available to purchase at our Fair.

- 1915: The first official national day named "Australia Day" took place on July 30, organized as a patriotic fundraiser during World War I to support the Red Cross and troops.

- 1930: The first Football World Cup takes place.

- 30th July: International Day of Friendship 

This day is noticed by the United Nations and happens every year on July 30. This friendship day is about how having mates can help bring peace, show kindness, and build mutual understanding. The idea for the day started in Paraguay and came from the World Friendship Crusade. People around the world join in by sending messages, sharing meals, giving gifts, and making friendship bracelets. This day is a good reminder to value old friends, welcome new friends, and enjoy cross-cultural connections.
