THE JAPANESE WORD OF THE FORTNIGHT

だいすきです (pronounced ‘daisukides’) which means ‘love something’ or ‘like something very much’ is the Japanese Word for Week 4 & 5 of Term 3.

You can use ‘だいすきです (‘daisukides’) to say you love something/like something very much. For example, if you want to say, ‘I love ramen’, you say ‘ramen daisukides’ (ラーメンだいすきです).  Also, for a casual situation, you don’t need to use ‘des’ at the end.

Thank you / ありがとうございます (pronounced ‘aligatoh gozaimas’) for your continuing support for our Japanese program.

GRADE 2 MCG EXPERIENCE

On Monday the grade 2s went to the MCG! We went with some parent helpers, Eytan’s mum, Amelia’s mum and Jackson’s dad.  I was so excited!  It was quite chilly. We got there by a humungous bus. We went to learn about how the MCG looked a long time ago.

First, the bus ride took half an hour. I was sitting next to my BFF Issy!  I got a bit bus sick. The bus driver was very friendly. His name was Victor.  I saw a cute little cavoodle out the window.

Next, we hopped off and ate our snack.  The MCG was HUGE!  I was amazed.  Meanwhile, I was eating my snack with Issy.

Then, we finally went in. It was so amazing I couldn’t speak!  When we got inside, 2S got to start playing games. My favourite was when you score softballs in a net. There was another game where you have a surf and another one where you ride a horse!

Then, we went to meet famous Olympian, Dean Hewitt. He showed us all of his medals. It was astounding. As the last part, we got a tour. I was exhausted from walking. It was worth it, though. I never knew there was a library at the MCG! I got a free bookmark. We even saw a red seat, which symbolizes the furthest hit of a cricket ball.

Finally, when we were all exhausted, we had out lunch and hopped on the bus. I was exhausted, but still felt sick on the bus.  I sat next to Issy again and headed back to school. It was a long ride.

On Monday the whole grade two's  and some teachers and parent helpers went to he MCG. We went to the MCG because we wanted to learn about the history of the MCG and how it changed in time.

First we went on the bus. I sat next to Jonathan. We were talking about Minecraft and about five seconds of Mario and some soccer.  We were in bus one, with all of 2S and half of 2M.  Behind us sat Julian and Jenson. They were giving us a back massage.  I felt comfy and happy but Jonathan got most of it!

Thirty minutes later we arrived and I was really hungry so we had a snack.  I had mini cookies and tiny teddies with some apple and mandarin. I was sitting next to Jonathan. He had popcorn and a mandarin too.  The MCG was huge!

Next, we played lots of games. I played the soccer game where you kick the ball into the goal. And then, we met an Olympian. His name was Dean Hewitt. He told us never give up. After we had our tour. We went to  the highest floor in the MCG, which was the fourth. It was so high!  After we tried to find the red seat. I found all the red seats. Finally we went to the library. I was not expecting a library here!

Finally we had lunch.  I was starving so much.  I sat next to Jonathan again.  I had a hot dog for lunch and Jonathan had a sandwich.  After that, we went on the bus. I sat next to Jonathan again!  We talked about Minecraft and Mario  on the way back, it was a long ride. I felt really, really, really, really tired!
