Welcome to IPS

At IPS we are proud of our diverse and inclusive community. We believe every student, regardless of ability, background, culture, language or learning style, should feel welcomed, valued and supported to reach their full potential.

In practice, this looks like:

• Belonging for all — students of all abilities learning alongside one another, with the adjustments and support they need to participate, contribute and thrive.
• Diverse voices and stories — our curriculum, celebrations and school events reflecting the many cultures, family structures and experiences that make up our community.
• Kindness in action — encouraging students to celebrate differences, stand up for one another and recognise diversity as a strength.

• Support that meets individual needs — our teachers and support staff working closely with families to understand each child’s individual strengths, needs and goals, and to provide the support they need to succeed.

   

Inclusion benefits everyone and works best when this message is shared both at school and at home, supporting students to interact respectfully and become understanding of and accepting of difference. When students learn in diverse and welcoming environments, they develop empathy, resilience, respect and a genuine appreciation for the different perspectives and experiences that make our community so special.

This why it is vitally important that all our families partner with us to ensure that every child feels a strong sense of belonging and connection at our school.

Working Bee Saturday 8th August

Our term 3 working bee will take place on Saturday 8th August between 3pm -5pm. We need lots of helpers to keep our school looking beautiful. There's always a free snag or two on the barbie for our helpers! 

Join us to keep our school safe and beautiful for your child/ren and then enjoy a lovely chat and a sausage afterwards.

R U OK? Day

On Thursday 10 September, Ivanhoe Primary School will be recognising R U OK? Day, Australia's national day of action that reminds us of the importance of checking in with the people around us. By simply asking, "Are you OK?", listening without judgement and encouraging support when needed, we can help others feel seen, valued and connected.

Throughout the day, students will participate in age-appropriate classroom activities and discussions that promote kindness, empathy and looking out for one another. These learning experiences help students develop positive relationships, build emotional awareness and understand that it's okay to ask for help when they need it. Together, we are continuing to foster a caring, inclusive and supportive school community where everyone feels they belong.

2026 Prime Minister's Spelling School Round

Book Week

Book week will be with us before you know it! 

I feel the pain the parents having to do last minute costumes, so to help you prepare, the theme for this year is, 'Symphony of Stories' and we will host a book week parade on 26th August.   

Please remember that you don't have to spend lots of money buying costumes, recycled, borrowed or second hand are perfectly fine. Sometimes just holding a favourite book or a sign is also enough!

Finally

It's been a shorter week for students with having a curriculum day yesterday.  Despite the dark, damp, wintery weather there was a fantastic turn out for the parent teacher conferences.  A key aspect of a child reaching their potential is a strong home-school link and we are lucky to have such a supportive community.  

Whilst we do understand that these conferences only give a snapshot of your child's progress, our teachers are always very happy for you to contact them to make an appointment if you need more time to talk.
