From the Leadership Team

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We hope all our families enjoyed a wonderful holiday filled with rest, fun and special moments together! We are so excited to welcome everyone back for what promises to be a fun-filled, action-packed and fantastic Term 4 at Modbury School P-6!
Over the holidays, we have been busy behind the scenes with a range of facilities upgrades and improvements to make our school even more vibrant, welcoming and inspiring for our learners. We can’t wait to share what’s new and see our students enjoying these refreshed spaces as we jump into another exciting term of learning, growth and connection!
🏫 A Huge Win for Modbury School P-6! 💚💛
We are thrilled to share that Modbury School P-6 has secured corporate funding for perimeter fencing around our school! 🎉
Following extensive advocacy and collaboration with the Department for Education’s Security and Emergency Management Team, this is a fantastic outcome and an important step towards creating a safer, more secure environment for our students, staff and families.
Even better, the project will be funded externally, protecting our school’s valuable operational funds for teaching, learning and student wellbeing. The project is in its early stages and will now progress through the tender process. We look forward to keeping our community updated as plans develop.
What a wonderful win for Modbury School P-6! 💚💛
🏏 SACA Schools Day at Adelaide Oval!
We are excited to give our Year 3–6 students the opportunity to attend SACA Schools Day at Adelaide Oval on Monday 19 October! A huge congratulations to Luke Venter and Sheila Flavel for securing this fantastic opportunity for our school. 🎉
Students will enjoy cricket activities, experience the iconic Adelaide Oval and watch South Australia take on Queensland in the Sheffield Shield — completely free of charge! ❤️🏏
Consent forms have been emailed to families, so please ensure you have completed and returned your child’s consent for them to attend.
Can you help us? We are looking for parent/carer volunteers to join us for this special day. If you are available and would love to be involved, please contact the Front Office as soon as possible. Volunteers will need to have the required documentation completed.
We can’t wait for our Modbury learners to enjoy this wonderful cricket experience! 💚💛
Facilities Update – Fresh Spaces for Learning and Connection
🎨 ‘Learning for Living’ Mural
Our canteen building is looking amazing thanks to a vibrant new mural celebrating our school motto, ‘Learning for Living’! The artwork was designed in collaboration with Scott Ratham from Rusted Tin, a contemporary Aboriginal artist, and our talented students in Rooms 8 and 9. Together, they have created a beautiful piece of artwork that reflects our school’s identity and brings new life to our spaces. The entrance to our Outdoor Classroom is now colourful, welcoming and inviting. A huge thank you to Scott and our students for their creativity, collaboration and hard work in bringing this wonderful project to life!
🔥 Fire Pit Cover Upgrade
We are pleased to share that our fire pit has a new cover! This much-needed upgrade is another step towards improving our outdoor learning spaces and creating welcoming environments for our students to connect, learn and enjoy time together. We are still waiting for the sides to be completed, with this work expected to take place later this term. We look forward to sharing the finished space with you soon!
🧹 Fresh New Carpets
Rooms 10 and 11 have had a fresh new look with the installation of new carpets, along with the correct colour carpet now in place in our STEM space. These upgrades are making our learning environments feel fresh, clean and inviting, creating comfortable spaces for our students to learn, explore and create. It is wonderful to see our facilities continuing to improve and support the learning experiences of our Modbury learners!
⚡ Electrical Appliance Testing – Keeping Our School Safe
As part of our ongoing commitment to Work Health and Safety (WHS), all electrical appliances across the school have undergone their annual tagging and testing. This important maintenance helps ensure our equipment is safe to use and that we continue to provide a safe environment for our students, staff and wider school community. Keeping our facilities well maintained and safe is an important part of our commitment to caring for everyone at Modbury School P-6.
🎨 Outdoor Games – Keeping the Colour Alive!
Our painted games outside the OSU are also receiving some much-needed attention! The artist has begun repair work to help protect the artwork and ensure the games continue to look fantastic for years to come. Behind the scenes, the artist has been carefully working to improve the paint quality and durability, helping to prevent peeling and ensuring the surface is properly prepared. We are looking forward to seeing these colourful spaces continue to brighten our school and provide fun opportunities for our students to play, connect and enjoy!
Thank You, SABCO! 🧹💚
A huge thank you to SABCO for their generous donation of a large box filled with a variety of cleaning products to support our classrooms at Modbury School P-6!
As part of our commitment to Learning for Living, we are encouraging our students to take pride in their learning spaces and develop a strong sense of shared responsibility for caring for our school environment. Through simple, age-appropriate classroom routines, students will learn that we all have a role to play in keeping our spaces clean, tidy and welcoming.
SABCO’s generous support will help us put this initiative into action across our 10 learning spaces, encouraging teamwork, community pride and a sense of ownership in the places where we learn each day. It also supports our wonderful cleaning team by helping students take responsibility for the everyday care of their classrooms.
We are incredibly grateful to SABCO for supporting our school and helping us teach our students that small acts of teamwork can make a big difference! Thank you for being part of our Modbury community and helping us create learning environments we can all be proud of. 💚💛
Spring Safety Reminder - Staying safe while exploring nature
As we welcome the beautiful season of spring to Modbury School P-6 and along Dry Creek, the warmer weather brings fresh blooms, vibrant greenery, and the arrival of wildlife. This includes an increased presence of insects, bugs, and snakes. While exploring and enjoying play outdoors, it is important to remain vigilant in grassy areas and under rocks, where wildlife may be hiding.
We encourage our families to discuss with their children the importance of safety when interacting with nature. Please remind our children not to disturb animal homes or pick up insects or creatures, as this can frighten the animals and lead them to bite or sting as a defensive response. Respecting wildlife and their habitats ensures safety for everyone and supports the balance of biodiversity in our local environment.
If your child notices a snake or other wildlife that may pose a risk, they should immediately inform an adult—whether a staff member at school or yourself if you're exploring together. Reporting sightings promptly helps keep our community safe.
Reporting Student Absences
We kindly remind families to please notify the school of any student absences before 9:30 am wherever possible. Absences can be reported by calling the front office or by communicating with your child’s classroom teacher via Class Dojo.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain accurate attendance records and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
