Student Activities

We celebrated the end of 2025 as a Catholic community with a whole-school Mass. It was a truly special moment seeing our entire College gather in prayer, reflection and gratitude as we closed out another year of learning, growth and community.

A big thank you to Mr Jeff Hobbs, who organised and led his final Mass here at the College.

Debating

Recently, some of our Year 8&9 students participated in debating training with the Debating Association of Victoria at St Paul’s Traralgon, where they learned some key debate techniques. This culminated in a competition with the other schools involved, which took place in Traralgon on Monday 1 December.

All of our participants were first-time debaters, and they performed so well, matching the other teams in the three areas on which they were judged – matter, manner and method. They showed amazing promise as they debated the two motions: that 50 % of all assessments should be non-written and non-typed (negative) and that all fast food should have plan packaging (affirmative).

The Catholic College Debate Club will be reactivated in 2026 where we hope to see many more debaters come on board from all year levels and we will be holding competitions within Catholic College Sale and against other schools.

Students should look out for notices about this in the first weeks of the 2026 school year.

Well done to all the students involved. 😊

Year 9 students taking our new Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics class have started their year by racing for the Dixon Cup. Students have designed and shaped their own Carbon Dioxide powered dragster.

On Friday they started testing and racing their cars and some reached speeds of 70km/h! The cup is named in honor of Rob Dixon a former long time staff member who was both a Science and Technology teacher. Early in 2026 students will race to try and be the inaugural winner of the Dixon Cup!
