Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,
It was deeply heartbreaking to hear about the news of the tragic attack in Bondi, particularly during Hanukkah and affecting the Jewish community. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected at this time. At a time that should have been marked by light, hope and celebration, it ended in devastation. We stand in solidarity with those who are grieving and affected. Moments like these remind us of the importance of compassion, kindness and standing together as a community. We held a staff prayer service last night, and we have sent information to staff on how to answer children's questions using age-appropriate explanations. Please see the Wellbeing page of the newsletter for further information.
Grade 6 Graduation
Last Thursday brought a wonderful sense of celebration as we entered the final stretch of the school year. Grade 6 students gathered for their Graduation, a significant milestone that marked the end of their primary schooling and the beginning of exciting new opportunities. We were incredibly proud of each of them and the growth they showed during their time at Sacred Heart. We hope our graduates and their families enjoyed a joyful and memorable evening celebrating this special occasion.
Farewell
Meredith Ryan is moving into the retirement phase of her life at the end of this year. Meredith has had a significant impact on our school community and on Catholic Education over many years. We thank her and wish her well in her retirement.
I would also like to acknowledge and thank Tom Armistead, Jackie Wilson and Abbey Hayes for their contributions to our school community in 2025 as they move on to new roles in 2026. As mentioned earlier, Tom Rieniets has accepted an opportunity to teach in Geelong in 2026.
Early Notice
The last day for our students this year will be Thursday, December 18th, exiting school at 3:15pm.
School will resume for students on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026.
Please note that Wednesday, the 28th, will also be the first day for our new Foundation students. Foundation students will attend school until 1:00pm for this first week and a half.
Merry Christmas
This is the final newsletter for this year, so I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and merry Christmas. Take the time to relax and enjoy this special time of the year with your loved ones. I would also like to thank everybody in the school community for their overwhelming support this year.
I look forward to seeing you all return safe and ready for a great 2026!
Kind regards,
Karl Dwyer
Principal
