Staffing News
I share with school community members the following Staffing News.
Emma Edmonds
Mrs Emma Edmonds has resigned from her classroom teacher position at Sacred Heart Kew and will finish at the end of this term. Emma has accepted a classroom teacher position at St Thomas the Apostle, Blackburn for Semester Two. We thank Emma for her contributions to Sacred Heart Kew and for teaching and supporting the 1EE children this semester, and wish her well with this new role.
Holly Burke
I am pleased to announce that we have appointed an experienced full time classroom teacher for Year One for Semester Two. Miss Holly Burke will begin teaching the 1EE class on the first day of Term 3 (Monday 21 July).
Some of you may remember Holly, as she previously taught Year One here at Sacred Heart Kew in 2023. Holly is an experienced classroom teacher, having taught in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Northern Territory (including in remote indigenous communities) and also in Melbourne. Most recently, Holly has been teaching at St Catherine’s Catholic Primary School in Moorabbin as a Year One & Two teacher. Holly is very excited to be re-joining the Sacred Heart Kew staff and school community and is looking forward to meeting the Year One children.

2025 Sacred Heart Food Drive and Feast of the Sacred Heart Mass
A huge thank you for supporting our Sacred Heart Food Drive this year. Last minute donations can be made until next Monday 23 June. Your generosity supports the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project. Next Monday, Sister Brigid will visit the students and talk to them about how the donations support communities in need.
Next Friday 27 June, we will all celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at our 9.15am Parish Mass. Everyone is welcome to join us for this whole school/parish celebration.
Congratulations

2025 School Closure Days
As was communicated to families last year...
* Time in Lieu (TIL)
The new Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 (the Agreement) introduces a formal time in lieu (TIL) process for teachers. The Agreement provides that a principal may require a teacher to undertake work and attend a school activity outside the normal hours of attendance (i.e., in excess of the 38 hours or normal hours for a part-time teacher) and when this occurs, it will attract TIL.
Principals should prepare for the accrual and acquittal of TIL through their annual planning process. The timing of the acquittal of TIL is at the discretion of the principal, having regard to the operational needs of the school and causing the least disruption to the educational program of the school.
Principals may elect to acquit TIL through designating days during the year on which all staff and students are not required to attend school.
