St. Mel's Book Week Dress up Parade 2025 ~ Book an Adventure

What a joy it was to see our students bring stories to life at our Book Week Parade! With this year’s theme, “Book an Adventure,” children dressed as their favourite characters and authors, filling our school with colour, laughter, and creativity. Celebrating together reminded us of the gift of stories and how reading and writing foster imagination, connection, and a lifelong love of learning.

Book Week Performance: August 11th

In the lead-up to our Book Fair and Book Week celebrations, we were treated to something very special, a performance of “Treasure Hunt,” held a week early to help build excitement across the school.

Two professional actors, joined by a number of our talented students from different year levels, brought the story to life on stage. The performance was entertaining, engaging, and full of energy, sparking laughter, curiosity, and plenty of smiles from students and staff alike.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate storytelling and remind us of the joy that comes from books, imagination, and performance.

What a perfect way to set the scene for our Book Week adventures!

St. Mel's Book Fair Fun!

Our children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the wonderful range of quality books at our Book Fair this week and choosing some special new reads to take home. It was fantastic to see so many families joining in and sharing the love of reading with us at St Mel’s. An extra highlight was being able to purchase a copy of Di Walker’s brand-new book, Secret Keeper. What a treat for our school community!
