Mungo Immersion ~ Mungo: Meeting Pla

This week I was blessed to take part in the CESL Mungo Immersion Program with teachers, leaders, and the CESL Central Team, guided by the Aboriginal Education Team.

Walking on the ancient land of Lake Mungo, on the Country of the Paakantji, Ngiyampaa and Mutthi Mutthi Peoples, was truly a life-changing experience, profound, spiritual, and deeply enriching. I carry with me a renewed appreciation of Aboriginal spirituality, story, history, culture, and tradition, and I look forward to sharing more of my reflection with you in our next newsletter.

CESL Spirituality Day ~ Wednesday 13th August

St Mel’s & St Anne’s – A Day of Spiritual Connection

Last week, we had the joy of welcoming our sister school, St Anne’s, into our community at St Mel’s for a beautiful day of spirituality and connection. It was a special opportunity to pause together, to share stories of our history, and to celebrate the bond that unites us as schools born from the same parish.

We reflected on the gift of our shared heritage, both St Mel’s and St Anne’s hold a Celtic Cross from the original St Mel’s Church, a powerful reminder of our roots and the faith that continues to guide us.

As we remembered all the liturgies we had gathered together in the past, we shared a day of stillness, reflection, and conversation, which was both nourishing and inspiring.

Together, we asked ourselves:

  • What are you grateful for?
  • How can we enrich one another’s journey as a team?
  • What nourishes you, sparks hope, and fills your cup?
  • Where do you find stillness—in prayer, meditation, sport, baking, art, or mindfulness?

The wisdom shared reminded us that:

  • Rest is essential, stillness, silence, presence.
  • Small acts of kindness create big ripples.
  • Helping one person makes a difference.
  • Sometimes you need to pause in order to move forward.

We are so grateful for the time spent together and look forward to continuing to grow in faith, friendship, and connection as sister schools.

2025 ~ 2026 Sacramental Program

Sacrament of Reconciliation: We are excited to begin preparing for the next phase of our Parish-based Sacramental Program, with the Sacrament of Reconciliation taking place in Term 4. Information has been shared with families of students in Year Three and above to help them begin this special journey of faith.

As part of the preparation, we warmly invite parents and carers to an information and formation evening on Thursday, 4 September at 7:00pm in the St Mel’s Parish House. This will be a valuable time to learn more about the program,

Social Justice in Action ~ Our Year 6 Leaders from our Social Justice Team have proudly launched our St. Vinnies Winter Appeal to support people within our local community.
