Why HPE Day Matters
National HPE Day is a call to action — a nationwide initiative to highlight the critical role of Health and Physical Education (HPE) in the Australian Curriculum and its influence on the learning and development of children. HPE teaches essential life skills: movement, resilience, teamwork, respect, and wellbeing. It’s not just aboout sport — it’s about equipping every young person with the tools to thrive.

OHR is celebrating this day on Tuesday 1st September. National HPE Day is more than a date on the calendar — it’s a celebration of the power of movement, health, and education to transform lives. We as a school and community are working together to ensure every child has the opportunity to lead an active, healthy, and fulfilling life.
We will be celebrating this day during P.E with lots of fun games, basketball clinics and circuits.
The Big Finale: The Nutbush dance: The entire school joining together for the classic Australian line dance to Tina Turner's "Nutbush City Limits."

A reminder that our 1500m runners will need to make their own way to the track.
Mr Byrne and myself will be there if you need to drop off and are unable to stay. These students will return to school by bus at the end of the day.
The North Balwyn District Athletics is being held at Doncaster Athletics Track on Wednesday 2nd September. Selected students from Gr 3-6 will be attending the day and representing OHR in both track and field events. The students will travel to and from the event by bus.
YR 5/6 DISTRICT HOCKEY DAY
On August 21st, the Year 5/6 level attended a Hockey Gala Day, competing against several other schools. We displayed Integrity and Leadership in many forms, and were always helpful towards our peers. We were flexible with positions, and always understanding and fair. We got along well, and most importantly, we all had great fun! We did not always win, of course, but we always worked hard and many people scored goals. We had a few people who played hockey outside of school, but the majority did not, and played skillfully as well. We are a proud year level and we tried our best - it was a learning experience for us all! Everything we do - especially as a year level helps us to grow physically and mentally, but also strive for the highest. Just like our school motto, ‘Grow. Learn. Succeed.’ And we all grew and learnt, eventually succeeding, becoming stronger and better than we were before!
Our Annual OHR Footy Colurs Day is coming....Whoo Hoo Last day of Term 3
Footy Colours Day is a national fundraising event initiative by Fight Cancer Foundation in September, where thousands of Aussies come together, proudly sport their team's colours, and raise money so kids don't fight cancer alone.
