Celebrations
There is so much in this issue of the Oban Oracle that I don't want to occupy too much of your attention here.
Our Flourish with Fluency intervention support program has been having great results with the students involved and plays an important role in helping students who require a bit more time, exposure and confidence to succeed in literacy and numeracy. I encourage anyone who has some available mornings or afternoons and would like to help children succeed to contact Kate Seyer and get involved.
Following on from the very popular Book Week performances, we have our Book Week events next including the ever-popular parade. Staff have been piecing together costumes over the last few weeks and it has occupied significant discussion time in the staffroom. We can't wait to see the many amazing characters students embody at the parade.
And finally, Mr Trend outlines the Bullying No Way campaign, sharing some of the topics that will be explored in the classrooms as part of our participation, as well as how you can continue these discussions at home.
There's always lots on the go, but so many valuable things to be aware of and get involved in.
Congratulations Levi
Each year, the Parliament of Victoria asks students across the state, from Grade 5 to Year 12, to share what they would say to parliament if you were an MP. This is a chance for students to talk about the issues that are important to them and their community.
Levi Sousa in Year 6 received a Highly Commended prize for his entry into the Parliament Prize this year, placing him in the top 6% of all entrants across the state.
Upcoming works
We have a few planned works around the school coming up:
- Fencing replacement behind Year 5/6
- Solar panel installation on Year 5/6
- Drainage works around the school repairing stormwater drains near the Prep stage & mud kitchen, the back of the oval, outside the Performing Arts room and outside the Junior library.
Nothing that should cause too much disruption but if you do see some cones or bollards in place, please help to direct your child to find an alternate route.
