At Dinjerra we follow the statewide prep enrolment process. Please visit STARTING SCHOOL. This page contains information for families on how to enrol their child in a Victorian government school and outlines the timeframes for submitting Foundation (Prep) enrolment applications for the 2027 school year. To locate your designated neighbourhood school please visit www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au

If you would like to enrol your child at Dinjerra Primary School you may do so by visiting the administration office or alternatively by phoning us on 9311 1598 during school hours.

Steps to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) for the 2027 school year

If your child is starting Foundation (Prep) in 2027, you will be able to apply for enrolment at a Victorian government primary school from the start of Term 2, 2026 (Monday 20 April 2026).

What you need to do:

Visit the Find my School website to find your designated neighbourhood school (your local school) for 2027 and other nearby government schools.
Contact a government primary school to book an optional school tour and learn more about the school and the enrolment application process.
Download the Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents and Carers (released in Week 1, Term 2). This pack includes the application form.
The school may also provide you with a copy of the application form to complete or advise if they are using online enrolment.
Submit your enrolment application to the school by Friday 31 July 2026.
You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 3 August and Friday 14 August 2026. The letter from the school will include the next steps. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should respond to the offer by Friday 28 August 2026.

Enrolment applications submitted after 31st July 2026 will be processed by the school as they are received, in accordance with the Department’s Placement Policy.

I WANT TO ENROL MY CHILD (Years 1 - 6)

Fantastic! Complete the following steps:

Download & complete the enrolment form: Enrolment forms must be completed, signed and returned to the school office.
Collate the following original documents which will be copied by the school:
You will need to give important information about your child, including:
- evidence of your child’s date of birth (birth certificate, or, if they were not born in Australia, a passport or travel document such as a visa)
- your contact, phone and address details, and that of any other parent, guardian and/or carer
- names and contact details of emergency contacts
- doctor’s and dentist’s names and phone numbers
- Immunisation Status Certificate
- health and welfare information
- information about the languages your child speaks and hears at home
- details of any parenting orders or legal matters to do with the care or safety of your child (service providers are obliged to keep your information private)
- if your child will be attending out of hours school care. If they are, a separate enrolment and bookings will need to be made for the days they will attend.
If you need an interpreter to help fill out the application form, the school staff can help organise this for you.
Attend the school with the enrolment form & original documents for submission.

For families arriving from overseas, school entry is determined by the Visa Subclass Number on your child's Passport. Students unable to enrol directly into the School can enrol via the International Education Division. Please contact them on 03 9637 2990, by email on international@education.vic.gov.au or visit their website on www.study.vic.gov.au for further information.
